Bob, I have a 2013 F-150 Ecoboost...I got it brand new and now have 23K miles on it....City mileage isnt that great....I get 12.5-14.0mpg around town and usually get 18-20mpg on the highway. Descent power all stock....havent had any problems with it so far......descent truck.

I'm getting the same as gmkillr around town but I do a lot of short stop and go trips. Highway is about the same as well. The trick is keeping it out of boost on the highway. I'm happy with that. Especially being tuned. A guy I know had a very similar truck to mine. Traded it for a 6.2 Chevy. He said that Chevy won't pull like the ecoboost. The new dodge seems to be better with the 8 speed. Haven't seen much on their new ecodiesel yet.

those fuel numbers are the same as 5.0 trucks.

Guys are putting KB's on the new 5.0 trucks and making 600rwhp...through an auto, transfer case, stock exhaust, 93 octane, and towing with them....

Yeah the fuel seems to be about a wash between this and a 5.0
However for $500 for a tuner and tune it's goodbye 5.0

I hear ya Dan - but as neat as the new stuff is, I still love seeing old iron that can really haul.

My normal driving is a lot like you guys describe. I have talked to 5.0 guys that seem to actually get better around town mileage because of the torque while the ecoboost needs boost in those get it moving ranges.

I don't tow enough for it to be a primary issue for a decision. It needs to be capable for my 3200# car and open trailer, but all of the new trucks can handle that well (my current Dodge is a 4.7 gas job and tows my stuff quite well). I really only tow 4-5 times a year and it's mostly highway when I'm going (Norwalk, MIR, Milan, Quaker, etc)

I hate to spend what they get for new trucks, but I tend to keep vehicles a long time so ... Current truck is a 02 bought in 06, last one was a 95 bought in 95 and traded in 06 on this one. LOL.
