Good way to remove rust on the valve springs?

...without taking them off the heads? I was "gifted" my Dad's 95 GT that my brother has started a bunch of work on. Unfortunately, it sat in the driveway for a number of years with the new heads on, but no valve covers. So the springs (studs, etc.) have some rust on them. I'd really like to clean them up without removing them, but I'm not sure what I could even use. Ideas?

Yeah... that has crossed my mind. Still holding out for some sort of magical spray that I'm not aware of.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

I would not be comfortable using de-rusted springs.
