I all,
I pulled a very weak running motor out of my 94 GT. We rebuilt another motor and swapped it in. Yesterday we primed the motor and tried to start it for the first time and the starter is now not working with the key. We jumped the solenoid on the starter and the motor turns over but sometimes the starter will stay engaged once the motor starts to run.
I started to check some wiring. The exciter wire has no power at the starter, but I followed it up to a round quick connect with a white wire by the fuse box where its getting constant power with the key on or off.
At first thought I thought it was a problem with the auto trans wiring harness that was adapted for a 5 speed. I was thinking it wasn't in neutral or park not allowing it to start. But as I'm typing this its sounding more like an ignition switch problem.
Any ideas where to start?
