    2015 Mustang HP posted

    http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2014/...ntcmp=features

The 2015 Ford Mustang is still a couple of months away from showrooms, but Ford today answered the biggest question surrounding it: How much power does it have?
There are actually three answers, one for each engine.
The big dog 5.0-liter Coyote V8 in the Mustang GT is rated at 435 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, up 15 hp and 10 lb-ft, while the base car’s 3.7-liter V6 loses 5 hp, for a 300 hp/290 lb-ft rating.
But it’s the 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, Mustang’s first since 1986, that’s been the most tantalizing, and it doesn’t disappoint with 310 ponies and 320 lb-ft on tap.
Just as important to pony car fans, while there were rumors that the all-new Mustang was going to weigh hundreds of pounds more than the current car, the gains are much more modest across the board, ranging from 12-87 pounds, depending on the model.
All three motors can be ordered with either a six-speed manual, or six-speed automatic transmission, while turbo and V8 cars will be available with optional performance packages featuring suspension and brake upgrades.

That's right where I thought the HP would be.

I wouldn't mind an SVO-like mustang, but the I4 turbo... meh... would rather have had the 3.5 TT v6. I guess they detuned the v6 so that it makes more sense to position the ecoboost as the "middle" car.

Anyway, the bump in power offsets the weight gain so its probably a wash in straight line performance.

Per above, the 2015 only weighs 12-87 pounds more than the 2014.

About the same as the 2011-14? I will be interested to see if it is quicker around a racetrack with the IRS.

Well they finally made the rear window/quarter panel area right, then mangled the front and rear ends....

Ya not a fan of the front, which seems like a cross bw the current mustang and the fusion, but it's still better looking than the camaro and challenger, so I think it's still going to do well

The hips and rear end of the '15 are really nice in person. I especially like how the trunk lid swoops into the rear roofline. Ride height seems pretty good right out of the box. I'm not loving the nose and tiny hood vents. The GT doesn't get fog lights in the grille and I'm not sure of I like the chrome grille accents. Ive never been a fan of black ( non-body-color ) rocker trim. Interior looks nice, including some GT40-like toggle switches. Bummer that the glass roof isn't available though...maybe that will come in 2016...

I really don't get the hate for this car's styling. I love the '11-'14, and I love the '15. Front end is a bit meh, but I think it will really grow on us as we start seeing them in person. Plus with the performance who really cares about the styling?

I agree Mark. Seeing it in person makes a huge difference, especially when it is sitting right next to a '14. I think that anyone who likes Mustangs will like this car when they see it in person.

One more thing...not a single mention of the manufacturer on the outside. My '14 only has one...it says FORD around the perimeter of the faux gas cap. But the '15 has none. I thought that was interesting.

Agreed... The challenger is a brick (lead filled) with headlights I can't get a grip on why so many people think it's so good looking

Considering its only a 15hp/10tq bump with a 15-90 pound weight gain (rough numbers), the styling is what would be the incentive to trade my '13 for this. For me, IRS is not enough to trade for something that looks like a Fusion and a Supra had a kid while dreaming about the 94-98 mustangs.

edit - i will give them points for removing the fake air vents though

I agree completely...once I saw it in person and loved it. The rear is super sexy and front is better in person. Can't wait to actually sit in one and check out the interior first hand.

Fake? They are functional on the 2011-14's. The '15 has very small vents toward the front of the hood.
