I like wagons, so I like this. My initial thought was also, leave the Fairmont front end on it. But Paxton makes a good point about the perception changing after you see the Mustang front end in the rear view. Hood scoop definitely needs to go. If it was a 4 eye Fairmont, then do a Fairlane tribute, with ram air inlets where the inboard headlights are. 2 eye, fab up a ram air, do a 3" cowl, maybe a shaker.
The yellow one... the ground effects and hood scoop have to go. I like the red one, and the Marquis reminds me of a friend of mine on the east side of the state, Dave Raser.
