Nitro Jam this weekend at PRP

If you've never seen nitro cars, it's a great experience, an assault on the senses. And Friday is a test and tune before and in between the qualifying sessions. I thought it was a limited number of cars, but they qualify 8 cars in nostalgia nitro funny car, fuel altereds, and nitro Harley. Good article on the link with more info:

I really dig the fuel altereds... short wheelbase, blown nitro burners, got to be 2 huge handfuls to drive: http://www.nitrojam.com/drivers/nitro-altereds/
Nostalgia nitro funny car... ok, not as quick as the NHRA pro funny cars, but, these actually look like cars, and have personality: http://www.nitrojam.com/drivers/amso...ro-funny-cars/

Mountain motor Pro Stock, crazy nitro Harley, all women in the jet dragsters, should be pushing 270+mph... good stuff.

Dan, I think Thursday's test and tune will be normal... maybe a litle lighter, if people decide to try for Friday instead of Thursday. And like way too many racedays this season, the biggest factor will be that beotch Mother Nature.

Also, if you're coming Saturday, why not buy in to Trophy ($25, 12.00 and slower, footbrake, must have mufflers and DOT tires, trophies to winner and runner up), or Street ($35, 12.00 and slower, footbrake, slicks and open header allowed, $350 to win, $150 runner up, $15 round money starts with a second round win) and have some fun? Saturday, tickets are $25 at nitrojam.com, or $30 at the gate (IHRA sets the ticket price for this event, not PRP).

Surprisingly it was a good Friday event. I give this Nitro Jam

Little rain delay early on to slow the start of everything. I only stayed to see first round but non of the Pro-stock made a full pass. Blowing tires off or other issues. Like pulling chutes on burnout. Course the funny cars and fuel altereds all pretty much made clean passes. Them bastages were running a lot of nitro. Some serious watery eyes around starting line.

TnT would have had some nice times to run if not for rain. Otherwise we were filler and could make as many passes as wanted while lanes were open. Not many really for TnT. Say 30 tops, if that.

Tell me about it Brent. Why do you think you haven't saw the Mustang out in the Heights or anything for AllSquad. I can't even get the car out without it trying to rain. Shit, I took it out today for a little bit just to blow some cobwebs out of it before the rain hit again. It's pathetic!

Me and a couple of friends went Friday (neither had experienced nitro or jet cars prior to this), needless to say we all had a blast. I have been going to the drags for damn near 30 years now and with the exception of some NHRA National events I have been to, I thought this was one of the best "show car" fields I had ever seen. Even though Friday night ended up being ok, it is a shame that the weather didn't cooperate better for the weekend. Hopefully PRP and the IHRA continue to grow and promote this show in the years to come. It is a great opportunity to see some badass cars in our area.

It's such a shame the weather got us again. I thought Friday night was awesome. On the PRP FB page there are some vids, nitro Harley going 5.67 at 200mph pretty much just on the back tire, and Bruce Litton in the US Male Vega funny car going 4.98 to get the #1 qualifier. That lasted 1 pair, Pete Gallen with the Monza was right behind, and went 4.97, then runs a 4.92 in round 1 Saturday. Those nitro Harley guys are nucking futs.

Trav, were your buddies part of the guys crying after getting a big snoot full of nitro? Even when you know what to expect, it can get you. But I love seeing the first timers experience it.

Yep sucked that it rained Saturday. Some of those cars were going to put down some fast numbers. Even Pro-stock seemed to get their cars to hook finally. As bunch were high 4.1x to low 4.2x's in 1/8
