    New Family Truck

I have been looking for a crew cab for my growing family and picked one up two weeks ago in the midwest.

I really wanted an old school rig because they are just as capable (nearly) as the newer rigs, are infinitely cooler, and cost less. Well over the past couple yrs prices on these old crew cabs have gone up by 50% but I finally found a fair deal on one that is a driving project to put some personal touches on.

Managed 8.5mpg avg on the 600 mile route home at 70mph which is pretty rough...need to properly setup the fuel and timing curve.

    1979 F250 Crew Cab, T18, NP205, 466, 4.88's, 12" lift, 40" toyo's

466? Is that an overbore 460?

    yes .030 over 460.

Will probably be putting some different heads/intake setup on it this winter so can verify everything when the heads are off.

I like the picture of it next to my wife's sante fe....the truck's bumper is as high as the bottom of the rear hatch glass. LOL

Truck is awesome. If you go with a little less lift and like 33s it might break 10mpg. :)

That truck is awesome! I have always liked that body style. That is a very rare truck. Not too many crew cab trucks back then. Very nice find!

I still have it for now but will be selling it. Which is a shame because it is in better mechanical condition now than it has been in probably 30 yrs. lol

Thanks Ray. All my buddies want me to pull it but I will wait until next yr after it has a proper tune on it.

I plan on taking a few inches out of the lift to correct the shackle angle and soften the ride....but the 40's will stay. :)

They are rare indeed...actually hand built cabs and rear doors. I looked for 6-8 months for one.
