    Jeff Lutz at PRP

From the PRP website, Jeff Lutz will be running both of his '57 Chevys this Thursday at PRP, in a track rental during the day, and staying for the test and tune Thursday night. Looks like nice forecast for tomorrow too.

Jeff Lutz testing at PRP this Thursday!

08-28-2014 Jeff Lutz will be at PRP this Thursday, testing both of his ’57 Chevys “The Beast” and “The Evil Twin”! Jeff is well known for his participation and impressive elapsed times on Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week, and for his appearances on the Discovery Channel show “Street Outlaws”. If you’ve been on the Lutz Race Cars or PRP Facebook pages recently, you saw the video from last week’s testing at PRP, and how well the Evil Twin got down the track! Spectators gates will open at noon, with the normal price of $10 per person, or $25 for a carload. There are spots available for the track rental, contact Greg Miller – miller@pittsburghracewaypark.com – for details (must be a slick tired car). The regularly scheduled test and tune hours remain at 7pm-11:30pm; early admittance will be allowed.

It's been a long time since I've been to the track. What are the helmet requirements?

I think the rule is if you run 13.49 or better you need a helmet. Also no shorts, long pants only.

Ok, I have a couple dot helmets. I'm assuming you would need a snell rated helmet? I tried looking for the track rules on the website but couldn't find them.

At PRP test & tunes I think they just want to see someting on your head besides a cap.

How are they with verts at PRP? I don't have a cage and I'll probably run low 11's or high 10's. Think I'll get kicked out? I want to get my car on the track now that it's tuned but I don't want to go all the way up there just to get kicked out after one run.

13.99 and quicker for a helmet. I think you'd be ok with a DOT at a test and tune. The tech get a bit more strict on bracket days, and my helmet has been checked for type and date, here, Norwalk, and a few other tracks.

Stangman, my guess - and this is just my guess - you'd at least be ok for the night. You might get a "suggestion" to bring the car up to meet the tech rules. Definitely have a helmet though... I think the helmet requirment for a convertible is a lot slower than the 13.99, if not for all convertibles regardless of ET.

Thank you sir! I guess I'll just have to go give it a try on a tnt night here soon. Worst case I get one run in and get to watch the rest of the night I suppose

I don't think motorcycle helmets meet the requirements for the drags?? Unless Honda House sells snell-rated helmets also.

That's good - I figured you knew what to buy - just didn't want you to show up at the track with a motorcycle helmet and not be allowed to run.

Ron, the SCCA doesn't approve of the SN helmets for road racing and TT (has to be the SA rating), but they allow them for track days. Might be where you got the mix up?

Nice night at the track last night. There was a cleanup going on when I arrived, not sure what happened. I ended up getting 2 runs in. 1st pass was best, second pass I blew the tires off the line. Here's the good run.

    That run was a 12.1 @ 118. 1.9 60'. Definitely could use a set of slicks.

Yes Dan one of Jeff's car made a pass, no times listed. They also had a turbo chevelle running.
