Mike, can I buy some SCS decals before it shuts down? I'd like to have something to remember the site.

Well were up to 23 members willing to donate which look to fall very short of the 65 members each donating to help the forum make it. At the end of the day if we just had more posting, more pics being posted and just more members participating then the sponsors would have probably stuck around. Its a sad day in forum history......

I agree with everyone, it will be sad to see the forum go, lots of good people and times on here! If you look around the Mustang forum world, some of the biggest and most active forums are nothing now, like it or not, Social Media > Forums. Forums will always have their place because of searchable and linkable threads with good content, but outside of that, social media offers everything else forums do and then some. IMO this forum has been in decline for too long, I knew the risk when I purchased it but I was willing to try, it is what it is. I have been kicking around an idea for quite some time that would utilize the paid for license and domain, it would serve a purpose and also be a way for people to stay in touch, but much more affordable and simple, I will give it some thought and let everyone know anything changes.

As far as merchandise goes, I gave away the rest of the t-shirts but there are still stickers at the shop, first come first serve if anyone wants one. Also, I am told the forum will be closed by 12/31 by the host company.

    Thanks

I would be in for $20-$25, but it doesn't sound like it will matter. As you can tell from my post count, I'm a good lurker, but still check out the forum almost every day. I don't do facebook either & don't really think it can match what a forum can offer but I understand why Mike wants to close it down.

I'll throw a donation in as well for 25.00 to 50.00 if it will help. Let us know if you can raise enough money and where to send it.

While it's mostly about the money, it's not all about the money and it's time to pull the plug on my end. The forum costs $135.00 per month ($1620.00 per year) just to host and is due for another minor software upgrade. If our members can pull together enough money to cover the annual hosting fee, as well as a plan going forward, I'm all ears.

    $1620.00 per year. Seriously?
I admin a vbulletin site with over 1400 members and over 600 users login per day and we do not pay anywhere near that with servint.
This site does not have the traffic to justify the Ultimate VPS cost. This site will run fine on the $55 plan as long as the server is optimized for vbulletin.
Downgrade the server and I will gladly help get it optimized.

I don't claim to know much about this stuff Jeff but if you remember, the forum had to be moved to a new server when I purchased it. You recommended staying with servint and the same package that the forum was on at the time. I did exactly that and have no regrets, the package worked for a while and servint has been nothing short of fantastic to deal with, very knowledgable and reliable. Fast forward several month when the forum was completely redesigned and upgraded to the most stable release of vBulletin, a plan change was mandatory. With a boost in activity/usage, the forum started to mechanically slow down and became very choppy, users started to complain. Both Servint and the professional vBulletin company I used for the upgrades stated that I needed a more powerful hosting option and I went with their suggestion. The forum is still hosted with servint and since I upgraded the package, there have been zero issues. I am in no way saying that there may or may not be a more economical way to host the forum or configure it to be more efficient, but I don't have that knowledge regardless.

Your the perfect person to purchase/run the forum Jeff, whey don't you take their money to put toward the purchase and buy the damn thing!

Mike I run the same vb4 4.2.2 on the site that has 600+ members per day login and at any given time 100 to 200 members on at the same time. We are on the plan one level below you with zero issues. The server needs to be optimized for vbulletin. There are many things that can slow the site down that are server setting related. I don't have any interest in owning a site anymore but could help out.
