Opinions - C4 brands Performance Automatic Dynamic Racing Transmissions

Does anyone have any brand experience with either Performance Automatic or Dynamic Racing Transmissions ? If it matters, specific to a C4. I've heard both good and bad things about Performance Automatics but given their popularity and the number of them out there, it's about 50/50 good vs bad that I've heard. I'm interested in hearing any opinions from local Mustang owners about good / bad C4 brands or experiences. Thanks

The car would be street driven primarily but see the occasional track day as well.

I have a performance automatic c4 in my blue car with the transbrake and reverse valve body. It has been in the car for 6 years and shifts flawlessly. It has always seeped some fluid since day one but never had any mechanical issues. I have street driven it mostly but under serious loads it still performs just as well.....as it should.

I have a Gearstar c-4 from Akron,Ohio in my 88 fox drag car. They built my tranny 5 years ago. It had a 2 year warranty. Almost 2 years later, it went south. They repaired it at no cost and I've been pounding on it for three years now. They treated me right. I've since found a local guy who comes very highly recommended from a guy that I work with. He father started the business and was a drag racer for many years. His son now runs the business and is a racer also. I've met him and been to his shop and was very impressed. If anything happens to my tranny, i'll take it to him. Dans Transmission's, Rt. 19 in Cranberry twp. 724-742-2880

My c-4 used to seep tranny fluid. I had a heck of a time figuring out where it was coming from. It was coming out of the little breather on the top of the tranny. I modified the plastic fitting, attached a hose to a small alum.catch can mounted horizontally on the tranny mount. I had a drain valve welded on the side to drain it. NO MORE SEEPAGE.

I only know one guy who ran a Dynamic Mighty Mite C-4, Robbie Michaels. He made one pass and it blew. It was a 393 stroker. This was about 12 years ago. My father and him drove the transmission to Dynamic to get it repaired under warranty. They said they could have it done that day if they waited. When my father and Robbie went to pick up the transmission after it was repaired, Dynamic wanted somewhere around $500 for the repairs. They then denied saying it would be repaired under warranty. The whole ordeal left a bad taste in our mouths. We sold the transmission instead of reinstalling it. Just a bad experience all around.

I still have a PA C4 that I'm planning on selling if you're looking to buy one. It's the one rated for 1k hp. Pm me if you're interested and don't still have my number.
