    Brad Penn Oil

Looking for oil for my old 360 FE. Is Brad Penn the way to go?

Has anyone gone to their place in Butler? Can you just walk in and buy a few quarts?

I can't answer, but I just drove by the brad penn refinery the other day. The whole area just smelled like 10w30.

Some brad Penn oil is high in zinc for flat tappet camshafts. We stock it at work for older cars. We used to use diesel oil, but they took the zinc out of that too. Using low zinc oil wiped the cam out on my 455 Olds when I had it.

I never cared enough to look into it in any more detail, but there was some "stuff" going around that people lab tested the Brad Penn stuff and the amount of zinc actually in it was MUCH less than advertised. Don't want to spread rumors so look into it some if you need an oil with zinc.

For my junk, I got it to where I don't need Zinc (and moly) any more, roller cam, changed to a billet auxiliary shaft, and did oil system mods to spray oil on the distributor gear. Happy to not need to worry about it now.

I haven't been to their place in Butler, so I'm no help there.

I do like the oil though, works great in my flat tappet Olds. One of my buddies is a distributor so I get it from him.

Roller cams FTW. Such BS that zinc gets yanked out of oil...

I've bought Lucas Zinc additive, but I'm not sure which is better. Everyone keeps saying to use Brad Penn.

Guess I'll be the ginny pig and walk in.
