    FS: 1979 Ford F250, 4x4, 4-speed, lifted

    Body/Chassis:
Restored about 15 years ago by the previous owner with mostly new reproduction sheetmetal. This includes the hood, fenders, doors, tailgate, and the entire bed. The truck was painted gun metal gray in single stage enamel. The paint job is a 10 footer. Frame was also sanded and painted and is in good shape. A new gas tank and sending unit, new black carpet, new black headliner and other interior parts were installed at that time. Inside sheetmetal of truck is painted to match the exterior, all brand new door and window seals, brand new tinted sliding rear glass window, aftermarket visor and roll pan from Lund, brand new badges and side mirrors on the exterior. It should be noted that reproduction stampings in the late 90’s were not as good as they are today. The doors don’t fit like OEM, however they function just the same. Everything else seems to line up pretty well.

    Drivetrain:
Truck has a completely rebuilt 400 with increased compression (about 8.8:1), truck/RV camshaft, edelbrock performer 4bbl intake manifold, rebuilt distributor with pertronix pointless ignition module, a freshly rebuilt holley 650 double pumper, mid-length tube headers, and dual 2.5” exhaust. At the time of the rebuild a new clutch was put in and the rear driveshaft was rebuilt. The rebuilt engine and clutch have approximately 30k miles. The truck has open Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear axles with 3.55 gears. The front axle received new ball joints and steering linkages about 20,000 miles ago. The truck was dyno tuned on a Mustang style chassis dyno and produced 240rwhp/355rwtq through the T18, NP435, D60 rear, and 32” tires. I would estimate about 325hp/450ft-lbs tq at the flywheel. The truck avg’s 10mpg but my best is 12mpg – which is comparable to today’s trucks with 37” tires.

    Suspension/Wheels/Tires:
Truck has newer (within 4 yrs) custom aftermarket Deaver leaf springs front and rear. These springs were designed to give about 3” suspension lift while getting a softer, more modern ride quality. If you are not familiar with Deaver spring out of California state, check them out on internet. The springs alone were around $1600 not including shipping. These leafs are made of thinner spring steel but multiple leafs to give a more progressive and softer rate. The front pack is 10 leafs and the rears are 9 leafs. There are no lift blocks in the back – it is all spring lift and therefore axle wrap is reduced. The spring hold down plates and u-bolts were also upgraded at that time to 3/8” thick plates and 5/8” thick u-bolts on all 4-corners.. The truck also has a superlift drop pitman arm, superlift stainless steel braided brake lines, and newer seal on the bottom of the steering box. The truck also has a 3” body lift which brings total lift to about 6”. This is enough to clear 37x12.50x17” B.F. Goodrich M/T tires on Mickey Thompson 17x9 Classic II’s wheels. The tires are about 65% tread and have no patches/plugs…etc. The wheels are in nice shape but not perfect. They clean up well and look good going down the road. The wheels and tires would cost about $2500 new today.

    New Parts:
The truck has had alot parts replaced on it within the last 12 months and all have less than 1000 miles on them. The below totals to about $1250 in parts alone:
    1.) (4) Rancho RS5000 shocks
    2.) (1) Rancho steering stabilizer
3.) (1) Upgraded 1 ton master cylinder and booster (new, not reman)
4.) (2) rear brake shoes, 1-ton wheel cylinders, and all hardware (both sides)
5.) (4) various front and rear inner/outer wheel bearings and all drum/rotor seals
    6.) (2) front axle u-joints in premium spicer 760-x non-greasable HD units
7.) (2) rebuilt spindles with new bearings and seals
8.) (1) rebuilt steering column with new upper and lower brgs
9.) (1) new turn signal switch plate complete assembly
10.) (1) new Borgeson steering shaft with universal joints instead of rag joint
11.) (1) New Pass side front caliper

    Extra’s:
The truck will also come equipped with an aftermarket CD radio and speakers. It has a custom aftermarket bench seat with fold-down center console for storage and cupholders. It has a 7-pin trailer hookup as well as an adjustable brake controller. It has a class IV hitch. The truck also has a $650 professional, over the rail and tailgate, spray-in bedliner which is very robust.

    Overall:
I really like this truck and everything that has been done to it by me has been done with intentions of keeping the truck forever. However, my growing family requires a 4-door truck so that is the only reason I am selling. The truck drives straight down the road, brakes well, rides well, etc. I have hauled as much as 1.5 ton without issue and pulled over 9000lbs as well. All electrical works on the truck (except radio) and it is mechanically and cosmetically sound. That said, I have used this truck as a ¾ ton work truck to complete various home projects and help others out when a truck was needed. It has some rust bubbles starting above one rear wheel well and some surface rust here and there underneath. I think it probably has a couple small dings here and there but overall is in great shape and is garage kept. The truck weighs right around 4700 empty and has a GVWR of 6700 so it can legally haul 1 ton. This is a great, functional truck to use for work, show, or play.

Truck has fresh inspection until 12/15.

    Contact Info and Price:
I am listing the truck at $8000 firm.

This truck was professionally appraised at 10k a few yrs back. I have the appraisal as well as about 10k in receipts from when it was restored in the late 90’s.

I can be reached at 724 five zero 3 eight 00 six.

No texts, only serious phone calls please. I am very busy. I will not waste your time so please do not waste mine. I do not need help selling this vehicle.

The amount of interest was way more than I expected...10 calls in 24 hrs. Had a guy offer 500 more than my asking price if he could have first chance at it. I guess the price was a little low. Had two ppl coming from out of state on Saturday and Sunday if it was still available.

It is now in the penn hills area....went to a ford truck family.

Yeah Dan, I miss that trailer. Sell it back to me. I need to use it for a job at work. Lol

Congrats John. That was a nice truck. If i didn't have such a long drive to work I would have bought it myself but i was afraid the lack of MPG's would kill me.
