FS: 2001 Laser Red Vert Cobra PROJECT CAR PA

For sale is a project to say the least. It is a 2001 Laser Red Vert with 98K miles and it is a salvage title. The vehicle was purchased from an auction dealer some months ago as a project. The goal was to restore the car and resale. We've acquired many projects since and this one just kept getting pushed to the side.. The car is considered a flood on the salvage certificate (must've nosed into some water and hydro-locked the engine). No water actually entered the cabin of the car, it just ruined a couple pistons and rods. The car is super clean otherwise. Convertible top is in excellent shape as well as the interior. The car comes with the already installed SLP exhaust, high flow cats and x-pipe, a like new SPEC clutch, a spare Teksid block, crank is still in good shape, heads are fine, and stock transmission. Just needs the engine rebuilt and you already have 2/3 the parts. Tires are brand new and everything is still in the car (brakes, suspension, interior, etc.).

Asking $5200. We have Pennsylvania Salvage Certificate in hand.

WILL NOT PART THE CAR OUT

    Thanks for looking!

Car is located in SW PA

    Welcome aboard to SCMC.

Car definitely looks clean. I think the asking price is holding you back. Sinking $4-5k more into the car for a stock rebuild on top of the $5200 purchase price and ending up with an R-title car leaves the buyer upside-down even after doing all the work to get the car back on the road. If the title was clean then the asking price wouldn't be too far off the mark. That's just my opinion - don't take it personally. I think the limited posts to this thread show most of the guys feel the same way. Good luck with it - definitely a pretty car.

I'm already taking a 1400$ hit. Generally when you buy a car like this, you buy it because you plan on keeping it. That was our original goal (terminator swap). Not for resale. When you're said and done, you have a clean ride and likely don't owe any money on it. Also I don't see where you would remotely have anywhere close to 4-5k$ in putting the car back to stock.. PS I was on steel city stangs back when Lou started it...

    Thanks for your input!

    Well then welcome back!

I just figured that yanking, rebuilding, and reinstalling the stock motor would run $4-5k. I haven't personally worked on the modular motors but figured it would be at least as expensive as for a pushrod motor. I have owned and had great luck with R-title cars before and I hope it all works out for you in the end.

If you've already got the driveline available you'd be in the game on this... otherwise yeah, a Terminator swap in this won't make you any money.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump
