So, you'll technically hold some kind of Fiero glory for the rest of your life.

Looks like you have your hands full. Doesn't look like dropping the engine out is that hard of a job. I wish I could say the same with mine. I just hope I remember where everything goes when it is time to go back together.

If you have unexpected parts/bolts left over at the end of a build, it just means you were able to do it more efficiently than the OEM.

I'm not doing it this time, its at a shop in detroit. This trans thing is way to advanced for my skills (you have to move the knock sensors, adjust the crossover pipe by inches, relocate the shift control arm, create bellhousing bolt holes, custom axles, custom mounts, and a bunch of little electrical things to make the 4t65 inputs control the 4t80. Also the metal headgaskets are supposed to be a pita on these motors, it was easier to ship off lol.

But yeah, you can drop the engine/trans out of the fiero (it comes out the bottom) by unplugging 2 harnesses, taking out the 4 cradle bolts, and disconnecting the suspension/brake lines. It only takes a few hours.

Jeff and I went on a 17 hour expedition to Detroit to drop off my spare motor on sunday. I could never figure out why there was a small coolant leak on the rear of the motor. Turns out the motor has been cracked for as long as I have had it, but there was enough dirt covering it that it wasn't visible. I looked at old pics and sure enough, it was cracked. I'm guessing the salvage yard pulled that motor from a totaled car because the crack was going from where the mount attaches up to a coolant passage. Luckily there wasn't any cracks going into the cylinder.

Now it has a low miles l67 going in, but I no longer have a spare motor.

My original plan of adding arp head studs has tuned into new motor, trans, turbo, and heads lol.

I think the "whileimatits" cost more than the actual build 65% of the time.

I agree. That is costing me another summer down with the Cobra. Just can see having stuff all apart and not upgrading. Besides I can't let those GTRs on here stomp all over the rwd crowd. hehe

Good luck Tom. I hope they get everything together quickly for you so your not out for to long.
