What are your fondest memories of SCS? Here's mine...

Yep, I can't believe I have 10 years of membership of Steel City... Something.... (Stangs or Musclecars take your pick). I was thinking about how I got involved in SCS and kind of a "then and now" trip down memory lane during those 10 years.

It was cam99 who got me to sign up here. He cross-posted over on srtforums to half heartedly troll- back when I thought my SRT4 was Gods gift to the streets- and encouraged me to sign up before I moved to the 'burg for grad school. It was then that I got a reality check when we met up at Sony before heading to a dyno day. :) The kill forums here were the spot I enjoyed posting in (and IMO was a big mistake to remove from the site). Tons of back and forth battles with cam got posted here between May of 2005 and August of 2006 when the board crashed and prior kill stories were lost. There were a few more through November 2006 when I left the 'burg to pursue career options, but it didn't matter what happened the kills got posted. It didn't matter if it was my Stage 3 SRT4 with 100 octane in the tank versus his Mach 1 on the bottle, pump gas vs pump gas battles, or hilarious "battle of the 16 second cars" like his 99-04 v6 vert versus my PT cruiser rental. That time period was really a high point both in my racing and my activity on SCS.

The irony is not lost on me that now that I have a mustang (actually, my second since owning the SRT4) I have been less active on what was a mustang-centric board.

But still, I have great memories of fun on SCS, or because of it. Hanging out at the McDonalds before heading out to race, making "ghetto race fuel" with xylene, and having cross-forum trolling wars with other sites (I kinda feel bad for clubrsx.... kinda... and how cam never got banned from there I will never know...) made things exciting. I remember Troll trolling trolls, going to Lou's (loved his blue cobra) to pick up parts, bob swinging by to pick up a turbo at Cams, the caravan to head to QCR where despite the uphill and 90 degree temps I ran my best times in the SRT, and various builds and flame wars from different forum members.

I remember on this site when having over 500 horse to the wheels commanded respect and awe, yet now it seems almost pedestrian. Breaking into the 11's was "ZOMG U R TEH FASTEST EVAR!!1!1!11" and now it almost seems "average" for modded cars. Gas was relatively cheap and the streets were alive with action as the Fast and Furious franchise didn't completely ruin it for a few more years yet. Now just looking at someone the wrong way at a stoplight and you get charged with racing. The 350z was the car everyone loved to hate.

Anyway, whether its dyno days and track days, there were tons of good times over the years that I've been a part of or have been able to read about once I left the area. I continued to post even though I was living in Alaska or Canada and I met great people and made some great friends a few of which I keep in touch with today and visit when my travels bring me to the 'burg.

I can't help but think that, as others have said, facebook and other mediums are killing forums. So, just in case this is iteration of SC is "the last hurrah", what are some of your favourite memories from SCS/SCM whether it was on the board, or IRL because of the board? Lets take a trip down memory lane and celebrate over 10 years of the board's existence!

One of my favourites: A dyno day where a station wagon rolls up and puts everyone to shame on the dyno. The license plate frame reads "Go on, its only a 4 banger - YOU CANT LOSE!"

HAHAHAHA Thanks for the new CT.

I really really really miss the political debates. Maybe, we can start getting riled up for 2016? NOT!!!

I remember hiding behind a lift post because I was sure I'd soon be hit in the face with a rod or something. Definitely a cool sleeper!

I tried not to get too close...

I stopped trying to explain to people on youtube that #1 it isn't my car and #2 it really happened. People really hate that an Accord Wagon made north of 600 at the wheels for some reason.

I wanted to get close... that thing to me was incredible when I saw it. Even today that could probably beat the shit out of a ton of street cars

Most of my fondest car memories are from the pre-crash SCS timeframe. Me, Philly, and Ray meeting up in Mt pleasant and racing at sony (and Ray kicking our asses with that damn black Cobra!!), Having a year of one-up-man-ship with a certain stage 1...oh stage 2...wait stage 3 SRT, dyno days, shit talking in the kill forums-racing-then shit talking afterward, meeting up down at sheetz in uniontown and hanging out with that "crew", cruising, track rentals, etc. Met some cool people and just generally had more fun with cars back then.

quicker, but not faster if ricer math is applied. :) and a few jaunts from a roll proved that.

Ricer math doesn't apply here. To quote AZN," if you want a roll, go to the bakery." LOL

To be fair I was hopelessly addicted to elephant tranquilizers and red bull when I made that statement and not clear of mind
I would gladly get rid of the f bod if the right Ford came along, but the right one for me is a 03-04 Cobra and I can't bring myself to pay crackhead prices for one. Oh I'm sure you will have the 5.slow down my way and I'll gladly race it, just remember it's your race to lose. I won't spin or miss a shift so all the pressure is on you
