    Complete noob timing questions

Before you read this just remember I haven't had a car with a distributor for a LONG time. How do you set timing on a 5.0. I cleaned up my timing tab and all I see on it is the word time. How do you know actual degree's? And which way do you turn the distributor to advance the timing. Clockwise or counterclockwise. Thanks, Cam.

Romove the SPOUT connector located near distributor. This takes the advance out the computer adds and will allow you to set base timing. The numbers (degrees) are located on the balancer. Sometimes I scratch some soap chalk on the balancer and then wipe off excess to highlight degrees on balancer. Turning the distributor clockwise should increase advancement of timing. Remember to replace spout connector after setting timing, unless you plan to leave spout out and dial in total timing. I've done some testing using both methods and saw no gain or loss. Some claim they have picked up some.
