    Side by sides

Small rant. Can someone please make a intelligent argument as to why anyone would buy a $20k side by side as opposed to a really nice used jeep? Im dumbfounded by the prices of these things.

I cannot. I feel the same way you do, Bub. No idea who buys these things, especially around here in this so-called depressed area of the country. No brains. Apparently, they'll finance you for a bazillion years. You could buy MANY very nice, used, road-worthy, titled, modes of transportation for $20K! ??????????????????????????????

I also do not get the obsession with these things. Then again, offroading isn't really my thing anyway, so I figured it just fit in with jacked up trucks and all of that lol.

I have a jacked up truck but I see no reason to even spend 10k on a side by side...much less 20.

My parents have a jeep rubicon and a rzr-s. They got the rzr-s because they enjoy going atv riding, but my mom flipped hers so its easier if she just rides with my dad (they are both in their 60s).

They had a 2 seat atv for awhile, but the rzr is way more comfortable (they will go on all day rides)

I get that they're fun and all, but prices are a joke. If they're the size of a 700cc + quad, a cheap jeep will damn near go in the same trails.

I was in a similar situation a while back. I was looking for a used 4x4 quad. Cheapest one I could find that wasn't complete trash was $2500 so I ended up getting a decent 4wd Ranger instead for $1800. It's been just as much, if not more, fun and I've used it for hauling all kinds of crap around the house.

I was thinking about a utility one with a power dump bed to use around my house....but the price is nuts and the payload and bed sizes are a joke compared to just using my truck instead.

I do have a 4x4 quad that I use to mow my grass.....real clean low hour Honda I picked up for 2k.

Out in Sedona, Az.(where we visited for a day while in Phoenix) they rent them to people to go riding around in for the day. They do look like a lot of fun but I don't think I could ever own one. btw 81 and sunny here today. :-)

I don't want to spend $20K on an 03/04 Cobra, so heck no I wouldn't spend $20K on a glorified 4 wheeler (or golf cart).

This has kind of always been my thinking on them too... there are A LOT of other things I'd rather have for that kind of coin.

Priced around $8-10K new they were fun. We used to ride all the time and some of my buddies had them. Comfy and fun but you can't be scared to get them dirty or buried up to the steering wheel in mud and water or you are not going to have a good time. Most folks just can't justify the newer super inflated prices. I might consider a used one in nice shape that has not been sunk but good luck finding that. Haha

For having fun in the woods a side-by-side is about 23,535,956 times more fun than a jeep IMO. It take a lot of money to make a jeep fun in the woods. Side-by-sides are a lot of fun to rip around on or get a group together and put a case in the back. But for me, if I want to have fun offroad I will by a used sub $3k 450r.
