OP Updated!
Sorry to get off topic OP.
It is a little different for people like D-rod, Tom, Errormacro and myself (Sorry if I missed anyone else). I am sorry if you can't see that. I was happy as hell when my 93 pump gas car only lost by a fender to a drag car that has to pull over for cooling and to change its battery. I came closer then most people on here to taking one down on a good run by both parties. I am sure things would be different if everyone played by the same rules. When the day comes where a true street car takes one of these down. I will shake the drivers hand!

I do see why they allow these types of cars to run at these events, as I am sure that the majority of the funds that they make on this event are spectator entry fees. I figure there are roughly 200 racers @ 30 each (6k) and 2000 spectators (wild ass guess) @ 6$ each (12K), Plus vendor fees for food vendors, etc.
So 18k minus any sort of insurance fees, and salaries.
The spectators want to see the really loud, really fast cars go blasting down the track, so they cater to what will bring more spectators in. This is just how the business has to be done to be successful and profitable for them. They have to cater to them.
Not saying I agree with them being crammed into "Top street" or whatever because they aren't competitive in "Big Dog", or create a specific class for cars running full slicks.

I had a blast the time we went and errormacro, ruthless, and andy's bug were there. People even came up to me afterwards and said it was the best FLDs that they had seen. There were rumors floating around that people were actually betting on the Fiero vs Beetle races lol. Just so you guys know, I'm willing to take a fall for a slice of the pie! :)

Speaking of him having a fit... Here is a story and the only time I got pissed at one of these events. Seems "The Boss" didn't have a pink slip a few years back and it was after the 5:00 cut off. Well this was the only time I had to sit with my hood up to cool off before the finals and was doing just that. Then I hear over the pa "Would the owner of the blue mustang cobra come to the tent. He has been called out". I walked up to the tent to see what was going on and it was "The Boss". I about flipped because Turk and a few of the other guys made me feel like I had to run since I wasn't up on the rules at that time. I told them it was BS but I am not backing down from any call outs so lets go. Got my car and sat by the tent for a while waiting for "The Boss" to get his car. Waited some more...Yelled out my window at the fld crew to tell that F head to get his car up here. About that time everyone was confused so I told them I would go wait at the starting line. There I sat for 10 mins or so until I gave up. Talked to the guy running the lanes and was told "How he isn't coming up. Some one gave him a pink slip". Lets just say I did a topfuel burnout and left the line as hard as I could. As far as I was concerned I won that race. Went and parked the car and walked back up to the tent with my pink slip in hand looking for the guy and to see what was going on. I was told again. "Oh he has a slip". I told them that was funny because he never came up to race me and called me out to run for mine. I then told them to take my slip because I wasn't going to play these games and was laughed at. After some searching I found "The Boss" and put my slip under his wiper blade. It wasn't worth my time to go into the finals with him.
So the short of it... Just go for fun because some people can get away with murder at these events.
I have had a bunch of crap pulled on me over the years. I have been ready to race in the finals and at the last minute had the Early performance crew switch out cars on me because they felt I would beat the slower car I guess. Funny part was that their faster car blew up beside me then the fld crew says the track is safe to race on. I think Turk had a piston and a few other pieces in his hand when they announced that. I pulled my car out because the track wasn't safe. I think a stockish terminator won that day.

The few of us gunning for him are true street cars but it will be funny to hear what he says.
Even if my car is not back together I will be down for the first race. I want to see what cars are out and see you guys run. It sucked being down last year!

I agree with Jeff that I just come for fun. Even if I had a dog in the fight I don't think I'd care that much.
So from my reading basically the issue is the car you're talking about is in top street and should be in big dawg or outlaw ?
Just a little 500 whp V6
I was at the first one last year. I raced anyone that felt like lining up to me. I didn't care, I was having fun. I go down for very simple reasons. I love cars. I love driving my car. I love having fun. I think I ran 14 times last year. I won 11 of them. My favorites were the ones I lost. There was a built Camaro I lost to twice, and a Saturn Sky Redline that got me once. It was fun trying to tree them. I can't wait to get out there and do it again.
Anyone feels like lining up with me, please do......
Its all about the rush.
