Where does the Camaro come in at? The OP posted a Mustang vs Vette video???

    A brand new Camaro Z28 runs high 11's...bottom 12's

Thats Ford Fastest Mustang in 2015 vs Chevys fastest Camaro in 2015 and the Mustang still loses.

Dont get me wrong im a huge Mustang fan but Ford really dropped the ball on the 2015's.

The C5Z weighs about 3118 lbs.

So yeah about 500-600 lbs weight advantage.

I still think a car designed and built back in 2001 should not be pulling on a popular performance car built and designed in 2015.
A McLaren F1 from 92 would gap both of them by a considerable margin, who gives a shit about year

Ah I didn't see that in your stipulations, only saw a car from 14 years ago. Figured I'd mention one from 23 years ago. lol.

The corvette and mustang have never been competitors, no one is surprised by the outcome.

LOL.....I could really car less but it is fun to debate about various cars!

I did almost buy an absolute mint 03 C5Z a few years ago with 3000 miles on it but passed after driving it as the interior reminded me way to much of a Camaro.....lol

A 2003 Yamaha R1 will run 11's all day with an average rider and it got 130 RWHP and weighs 450 pounds full of gas sans rider. Weight is the killer here. It seems like all you drag racers understand the weight issue. It's just math. Why is it such a surprise? 10 years ago, the 2005 GTO was a huge, fat pig and it weighed what? 3,700lbs. with a 400 horse LS2. You needed a calendar to measure the 1/4 mile times bone stock. I have been debating selling my girlie car and getting another "muscle" car and the C5Z is at the top of my list for all the reasons listed here. I don't know why anyone in their right mind would buy a new pony car nowadays... they're all underpowered, fat, over $40K pigs that are lucky to get into the 12's. Doesn't a bone-stock 98-02 Camaro SS get into the high 12's / low 13's with 300rwhp? 'cause it weighs 3,200-3,300lbs ?????

Never knew the mustang was the vettes competitor. But yes. There's a big weight difference. This is simple math. It usually takes a newer mustang 100 or so hp to run down a corvette of a similar time period.

a 98- 02 Ls1 F-bod stock for stock would beat every mustang Gt made until 2011 so maybe lets not beat the greatness of the mustang Gt drum so hard now LOL. C5 Z has it in weight, new 5.slow has it in horsepower and traction control technology and such. Both drivers seemed pretty equal to me and both had a passenger. Vette still is a contender after all these years. Pushrods FTW!

What you can't play the "well ford had to use a supercharger" anymore?

The Z will beat out the GT in basically every single category under the sun.

So if you were in the market for a great overall performing car which would you get?

Point is the brand new GT should perform much better than it does....If I had one and got walked by a 14 year old C5Z id be flat out embarrassed and mad that my new car wasnt up to the task.
I had an '01 Z06. I sold it and bought a 2014 GT. I enjoyed the Corvette, but hated the stigma associated with owning one and tired quickly of the fact that the interior quality was on par with a 2001 Cavalier. The novelty wore off. For a pure track car the Corvette wins hands down. All around, Mustang any day of the week.

The Corvette seemed cold to me (on the street) as well, like it had no soul. Hard to explain. My '09 Cobalt SS compared to my old SRT4 was the same thing. SRT4 was just fun, the SS/TC just seemed cold, like GM sucked the fun out of it. But both cars were loads of fun on a track. Maybe I just didn't "get" the Corvette, not sure. I am the same guy who drove a Lotus Elise on giant A6s and hated it too, so take that with a grain of salt.

Surprisingly, physics hasn't changed even after 13 years. Lighter+nearly equal power=faster

The C5 interior really is rough. Most modern cars have improved greatly in this area. What car is in your avatar--after seeing your post, I noticed your sig, I thought the avatar pic was your car before that.

That's old '90 Notchback. I smashed it up at a hillclimb in '07. Just love the pic :)
