    Track Rental Questions

How much does it cost to do a rental?

Anyone interested in doing it 2nd half of June? I'll be in the area except for the 25th

anyone whose done a rental explain the general deal of how it works? Does one person pay up front and then everyone pays money to that person or what? Do you get a better deal going with a week day over a weekend? How many hours do you get the track?

I contacted PRP about getting a rental, but have yet to hear back. I asked a lot those general questions in the request--I'll try following up tonight with another email.

If possible I would only do track rentals. It's completely worth the extra $ to me for a smaller group and as many runs as I can get.

I know a little on how it's done, but don't hold me to all of this, some of it are suppositions on my part. For payment, for sure, has to be before a car goes down the track, but I think it can be that day. If you have 10 cars dividing the cost equally, and 2 bail on you/don't show, you have to cover those 2 shares still. Scheduling it will have to be a weekday, possibly a Sunday, as test and tunes are Fridays, and bracket days are Saturdays. You could schedule it on a Friday afternoon, do the track rental, and then be included in that night's tnt too. Number of hours I think depends on how much you want to pay. This is the June schedule:
June 5, Test N Tune. Gates open at 5:30pm, racing from 6:30pm-midnight
June 6, SSS Points Day #6, 1/4 mile Regular Racing, plus Funny Car show! Gates open 11am, TCR at noon, junior dragsters follow, big car time trials start at 3pm
June 12, Test N Tune, plus Bud’s Auto Nostalgia Stock/Super Stock. Gates open at 5:30pm, racing from 6:30pm-midnight
June 13, SSS Points Day #7, 1/4 mile Regular Racing. 6th Annual Thinking of Nikki & Mark Memorial race. Gates open 11am, TCR at noon, junior dragsters follow, big car time trials start at 3pm
June 19, Test N Tune. Gates open at 5:30pm, racing from 6:30pm-midnight
June 20, EVENT # 1 - Day at the Races and Test N Tune. Gates open 11am, racing noon-6pm
June 20, EVENT # 2 – Saturday Night Street Drags. Gates open 8pm, racing 9pm-1am
June 26, Test N Tune. Gates open at 5:30pm, racing from 6:30pm-midnight
June 27, BGR Championship Series, all Mopar racing
June 28, BGR Championship Series, all Mopar racing

PM me if you don't hear back. With Carmen's passing and funeral last week, followed by the racer's banquet last Saturday, there was a lot going on.

I will be in for a rental if the car is ready.

I think its different for every track but this is what I have heard.

Tracks want money up front so most times some one from the club has to front the money and then get reimbursed by the members.

Some tracks rent out per lane so having both lanes is more. However this is good to split up the street tire guys from the DR/slick guys. Only takes a few street tires guys pulling water out of the box to ruin the fun for dr/slick guys.

Most tracks like to have the rental on the same day as a TnT night so they don't waste money prepping the track.

As for prepping the track... I have not been to a rental where the track is prepped very well so you might want to ask. I heard that most places charge by the foot after a certain point for putting compound down.

How much does it cost to properly prep a track? How far out do they go.... 60'? 330'? Does the prep get reduced the farther you get from the box? Seems really silly to me to have a track day without at least decent track prep.

one of best rentals used to be super staillions of the net when they held it at cecil. they prepped like crazy and you didn't worry about it. I snapped axle there ata track rental there. Track rental talks come up every year and nothing materializes once people find out how much it cost as talk is cheap. We have rented Thompson for reasonable too, last year wasn't too many rentals aside from Hollywood knights one and hear that there is another one this year. Buckeye stangs used to have one at Thompson but haven't heard anything. Real Tune used to rent track as I have tagged along with those guys too. Anyone that puts rental together for reasonable cost let me know as I usually round up 5-10 people depending on days.

Also we have rented steel valley for a fun event just have bbq all day and raced. was reasonable and a lot of fun. think we had 40 people racing last time. several brought a covered dish and we brought burgers and hot dogs had a good simple time. We did it a few years we called it the Bench Racer Annual lol. lot of grudge races that day and shut a lot of people up and had a good time overall.
