I don't think having 50-100 cars is a bad thing. I don't need to hot lap every 2 minutes. Plus, the more cars that show up, the more folks I get to meet.
2014 GT Premium - Sterling Gray Metallic - MT82 - Track Pack - Glass Roof - Recaro seats - Spoiler delete
12.76 @ 114.04 bone stock. Koni yellow coil-overs, BMR watts, LCA and LCA relo brackets, Borla S-type axle back.
1966 Coupe - 331 stroker - Bullet custom roller cam - cam and motor installed and dyno tuned by Rodeheavers Hot Rod - Astro A5 - McLeod RXT - 486 to the wheels - more fun than my little tires can handle
1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - currently NOT on jackstands
While I agree with the idea of getting to meet up with people (there's a few I haven't seen in years myself), a relatively low car count (I would define as 50 or less) means you can focus on one skill if you want to (r/t, 60' etc) without having the "pressure" of making a full pass. A lower car count also mitigates the hazard of a car break and its clean up time impacting the runs.
Pavaratti doesn't have to hit a high C every time he goes on stage, but its nice to know that he can. Same kind of analogy with run availability, IMO.
EDIT - Another thing I'm considering on my end. The ONLY track that I have access to I would consider to be poor quality (think QCR's uphill grade but a little worse) and there are only 5 offerings of TnT in the year. I was hoping to "get my fill" with respect to runs and practice because this will be my only chance to do some serious testing this year.

we are working out final details on costs but I have a pretty good idea
would you rather have 30 cars at $100 ?
a few people said they would pay $100, I think finding 30 will be tuff
50 cars might be hard to get as well
$50 might not be enough after I thought about anyway

That's why I thought Mason Dixon was so appealing. 20 cars for 82.25 a car to me seemed a sweet deal, and any cars over 20 only lowers the cost per car.
How are they breaking down costs? is it like MD where its a high cost for the first car then cheaper for additional cars, or are they doing a package based on car count?
I'm out if its on a Friday . Sat or sun no problem .
it is a flat fee. 1 car or 100 cars, makes no difference.
here is the ballpark - high 2k for a Friday or over 4k for a Sunday
like I said still working on final details
let me know what you guys want to do. if you want to go somewhere else that is ok by me and I will plan a separate event at prp on a different date

For me, its not "wanting to go somewhere else", its an issue of having a reasonable amount of cars for what people think is a reasonable amount of money. I think people people would rather pay a slightly higher price than 50 bucks if it means assurance of getting the runs they want for their testing. I may be wrong but that's my read based on thread responses.
Let's do the math and look at the PRP option this way. For a weekday (Friday) event, even at 3k to make it cost competitive on a per-car basis with a 20 car Mason Dixon event we only need 36 cars. So depending on how much under 3k the Friday TnT is could mean fewer cars to hit the break even point versus Mason Dixon. I think for the size and activity of this forum getting 36 cars is a lot more realistic than 50+ and gives the best of both worlds: a reasonably sized turnout to meet people with a small enough entourage of cars so that people can run the way they feel like without the time pressure. Even if there are only 30 cars that want to go to PRP it still puts it in a price point where I think people will want to go based on the rough numbers you've proposed.
Either track is a viable one to me based on cost per car as the threshold is fairly low. Both tracks have their plusses and minuses depending on your criteria for going and how much weight you put into each one.
two things before more details:
1. june 19 is reserved from 12:30 - 5
2. working with prp for sunday event as well - date tbd

In for June 19th! Just let me know when, who, and how much to send money
I would say now that all the information is in about interest, track pricing, and availability an official announcement will be very soon. :)
ok everyone
i have a few ?'s before setting final details
how many cars do you think we will get for this friday june 19th event?
20,30,40 or 50??
this is the scenario i am looking at
if we get 32 cars , it will be $85 to enter
if we get 42 cars, it will be $65 to enter
i think these 2 numbers are reasonable and are not too high to affect ones ablilty to test. remember we will have 4.5 hours to ourselves then you can even stay for the night test n tune at no charge.
too make this work, we will need a definite count and you will have to prepay by a certain date
i am going to start a thread thread for commitments and then we can see what price range we will need to be at
let me know if you have ?s, thoughts, concerns etc...

Philly, Not sure if you have ever been to a private track rental or not but ive been to a few dozen ranging from 50-200 cars and I can tell you that the rentals with 200 cars guys are able to still hot lap their cars pretty much non-stop. Last rental I was at was around 150 cars. I made like 6 passes because thats all I wanted to run my car....I could have easily ran it 25-30+ times If I wanted. I certainly wouldn't worry about 50-60 cars....I think we'll need that many just to keep it interesting and fun.
^^^^ that's what I'm thinking. After the first couple of runs most guys will be cooling down, making adjustments, hanging out & setting up grudge races. With only 20-30 cars the track would probably be idle much of the time.

gmkillr - I haven't and that's good to know about the runs. My concern is breaks and cleanup (edit and the sheer volume of cars) but it's probably unwarranted.
In any event, I'm in for wherever.
