Wow, really interesting--thanks for sharing. There's an assumption baked in that whatever is not gasoline must be ethanol rather than measuring the ethanol and assuming what is not is gasoline.
Hm, interesting tid bit, but I don't think it really changes the outcome by it being the inverse, right? If there's water in it, whether you measure the ethanol or the gasoline, there an assumption that the other product is the opposite.
With test tubes, would it tell you that there is water?
With the test tube you use water to check it.There is a fill line for water then you add fuel to a certain line and the water will separate from the fuel and it has marks from 70% to 100% and where ever that line of separation is is what percentage the fuel is ethanol.
