Straight from the pump, mine was reading e67. Dak's will likely go up in ethanol content once he runs a tank or two through to get that nasty pump gas out of there lol

Welcome to the ethanol team. Your engine, turbos, etc. thank you for your coorperation :)

    The v6 turbo ethanol club!

I would be ok with e67, my car isn't as smart as a gtr and would run way to rich on e50.

My plan is to have it run e70 a little bit rich, so that when it gets into e85 it will lean out.

Luckily, we're south of 41, so we get to keep blend 1 for an extra month :)

Thanks for posting this, I'm sure the non-ethanol crowd was wondering what the hell I was talking about lol

PA is looking out for SCMC

I never realized that there were different blends until I started looking into it for my car.

How do you test your fuel? Just curious thanks

Most flex fuel kits for our platform run the GM flex fuel sensor and a digital display is installed in the battery compartment. When filling up, I check my oil, and then the gauge with the primary pump priming (return style fuel system) to see the ethanol content.

that's some hi tech shit right there. I just have a quick fuel e85 tester...

I am assuming your tune automatically corrects for the ethanol percentage in the fuel?

Some of the flex fuel stuff (even the one I can get for my dinosaur) have the capability of being TRUELY flex fuel, and will adjust the tune accordingly. I assume the GTR's flex fuel stuff does this, but am not certain.

That is correct. The tune automatically adjusts several parameters depending on the % of ethanol currently being run.

Wow, really interesting--thanks for sharing. There's an assumption baked in that whatever is not gasoline must be ethanol rather than measuring the ethanol and assuming what is not is gasoline.

Hm, interesting tid bit, but I don't think it really changes the outcome by it being the inverse, right? If there's water in it, whether you measure the ethanol or the gasoline, there an assumption that the other product is the opposite.

With test tubes, would it tell you that there is water?

  18. #138
With the test tube you use water to check it.There is a fill line for water then you add fuel to a certain line and the water will separate from the fuel and it has marks from 70% to 100% and where ever that line of separation is is what percentage the fuel is ethanol.

Thank you for the explanation. So water separates from the fuel, however, how do you tell the difference between gas content and ethanol? Sorry if I missed something.

    That's a good question.
