The Mustang has a service AdvanceTrac message as well as the ABS, traction, and stability lights on. I bought an OBDLink MX Bluetooth reader, and as suspected, the ABS codes use the MCAN protocol. OBDLink can access that protocol but most free software isn't written for it. So I bought a USB Bluetooth adapter for the laptop and downloaded FORscan.
There are a few codes (see log) but the only active one when I ran the ABS system test was C1958, Dynamic stability control valve left front circuit failure. Suggestions on where to start? Wiring & fuses?
A week ago I didn't even know there were proprietary protocols or that FORscan existed. It's pretty awesome for free software. It can access all the modules, run self tests, and view/log pretty much all the sensors. Anyone who wants to use the scanner/software is certainly welcome to.
