wait how strict is this helmet rule going to be enforced? because I don't own one and I have probably 50 runs at PRP (faster than 14 seconds) in the past 2 years and never wore a helmet once nor been told I needed one lol even at the import face off event I didn't wear one.

I've always run in an ATV helmet, but I'm not risking it on Friday. I need a SNELL approved helmet anyway so I ordered a cheap one from amazon:

so a rule that never applied for the past 3 years is now tacking an extra $150 onto this track day for me? lol

I mean my fastest at PRP is only 12.9/13.0 lol

I plan on racing at not only PRP but Mason Dixon Dragway this year, so the $150 is worth it to me. At this point, what's another $150 towards this build?

I just forgot about the helmet thing since at PRP and Quaker where I typically go I've never had to wear one even with being faster than 13.99.

The memorial service is Thursday 4-6, we are leaving tomorrow AM to drive down. Going to watch the weather Thursday and make a call on if we are going to redeye it home to make the rental or stay and head to Myrtle or something for the weekend.

Just because you have never beeen told you needed one in the past doesn't exempt you from the rule. I don't mean that to sound harsh, but I can't think of a gentler way for to type it lol.

What's your head worth? Got a 5 cent head, get a cheap helmet. Personally, I like Impact, Super Sport, SA rated.

I never meant it as being exempt. obviously i'm faster than the rule states. I was just curious as to how I've gone this long with no one caring and if no one will care on Friday.

more or less it was me seeing if it will be enforced and if I need to scramble to get a helmet or find one to borrow from someone on here.

I drive Ranger.............will be lucky if it makes it to the 1/8 under power...........just need good shoes to walk back.

With so many fast cars ( and a bunch of scary fast cars ) there I would want to wear an approved helmet no matter who I line up against. You never know what might go wrong.

Fwiw, the last time I was at prp, (last summer), they asked me if I had a helmet. I pointed to it on the seat.
They didn't check the rating on it or anything but they did ask if I had one.
They typically don't care if it is like a dirtbike helmet or whatever though.
Can't say how strict they are this year.

If anyone is interested in purchasing my GoPro like camera, it is a Swann Freestyle HD, I can bring it to the rental. It just needs a micro SD card. It has the remote and little screen to attach to the back of it to watch videos without a TV or PC. Does NOT include the suction cup mount.

I will let it go for $60.
