Next wheel question..........if I went with a 18x8" wheel from a mustang, what would be a good set of tires size for a slight staggered look? Still interested in the 16's listed above but found 18's local that may also work. Would a 245 front/265 rear (or 275) fit fine? Don't worry about rubbing..........the rear will get narrowed to whatever I need to make tires fit.

BTW........I'm looking to run a very common tire size on this build. My other truck runs 325/50 rears......those get expensive for doing silly obnoxious things on the street.

IMO a 265 is the widest I would go on 8" wheels and even that's pushing it. For fitment I think a 265/45/18 rear with 235/50/18 front would look good and they are within 0.1" of each other on overall diameter. Unfortunately there isn't too much available in the 265/45/18 that I could find.

Another that's close is 255/40/18 rear and 225/45/18 front. The 225 is about as narrow as you want to go on an 8" wheel but there are a slew of options in both sizes.

I don't know if these are close enough to what you want but I thought about this thread when I saw them.

    I saw those......not too bad.

I looked at a set of 18x8's last night from a GT. They had a 235/50's on them. Set them next to the 225/50-16 that are on my truck. They were at least 3" taller overall and would have lifted the truck 1.5". This would negate the drop I want to put on it. The rear is going to be a custom set up so size does not matter so much in the back.

From some research I think I need a 16x8" or 17x8" front wheel to get the look I want.

Ahhh... that helps to know what you have on there now because then the overall diameter can stay the same as you increase your wheel size for the fronts. Your overall diameter right now is 25". Those 235/50's are 27.3" which of course if you're dropping the truck more you want to stay as close to the 25" size as possible. Since you dont have too many restrictions on the back and overall diameter of front versus back isn't that important it opens up more options

in 17x8's for the front, size options might be 225/45/17 or 235/45/17 (0.4" more overal dia than what you have now). In 18x8s on the front maybe 225/40/18 (0.1" overall dia bigger) or 235/40/18 (0.4" overall dia bigger). Anything wider than a 235 in 17 or 18 brings your overall diameter at or above 26" which I don't know if you want.

EDIT - in fronts you can go 245/50/16 on a 16x8 wheel and its 25.7 overall dia or 245/45/16 at 24.6" overall dia

As I'm looking more and more I see that my 25" fronts are pretty short....but I like the look and a 2-3" drop will look even better. I've also discovered that I don't want the "no sidewall" look for this truck. So short tires on big wheels is out. I think a 16" Mustang wheel will be my best bet. I could run a 255/50-16 rear tire......26" tall and 10" wide on a 8" wheel. And can still get them in a regular all season tire. The 245/50 also has a lot of good options available.

Now.........just need to find some 16x8" take off wheels.

I'm actually meeting up with Ares tomorrow to buy his 17" Bullitt wheels. The tires on them will even work well for mock up.......and the tire sizes available for that size will be perfect for this build.

BTW........I'm looking for a pair of 275/40-17's if anyone has some used ones setting around. I'd rather get them from SCMC folks before trolling CL for tires.

I put 275/60r15's on the front of my F100. Rims are 15x8. Went with a cheaper tire with a good weight rating. The truck won't see more than 1k miles a year.

I know, 15" vs 16" or 17", but still gives you an idea. Can get you a picture if you'd like.
