Some more racecar carnage incoming
But first, new parts!
Cobra brake setup and MM HD lowers. These lowers are beefy. Feel much nicer than my old lowers.
brakes on
these 13" rotors are a good bit bigger
and to the carnage. This is what my driver's side lower control arm axle bushing looked like when I pulled it..... oops
yay racecar things
lowers installed
fills the wheels much better
hard to see, but I seemed to have burnt up a plug wire as well.....

I've been chasing a missfire on this car forever. I'm starting to get fed up with it. Haven't driven it in a couple weeks and now I'm getting a weird miss on #2.
This car may end up getting a couple surprise upgrades this winter.

I've tried new plugs, coil pack is new, tried a couple brand new injectors on different cylinders.
The plug wires were new but after this bad one I may suspect the others.
Im putting it away for storage down at tims tomorrow. I may have him look into compression testing it
Just a little 500 whp V6
Haven't updated this in a long time.
The car was in winter storage down at Tim's, but there are a few new things that have happened.
One being, I had Tim put a new battery box and a ground ran to the engine block. He also looked over the tune and tried to figure out my missfire issue for awhile. No real luck, unfortunately. It runs better than before but still has a low rpm miss. Compression on the motor was good, so no new shortblock for me this year. Probably for the best though. I had picked up gaskets on closeout from Rockauto and considered pulling the heads and doing ARP studs but decided it wasn't necessary as I don't seem to have a head gasket issue either.
I fear for the worst when I dropped it off, as it was running really terribly. Flashing CEL misfire bad. I'm actually leaning towards my battery being kind of drained at the time now that I think about it though.
I also swapped my mildly ported lower with IMRC delete to a non-ported 99-00 non-imrc lower. This was mainly to see if the IMRC delete was causing my misfire issue. Don't have any pics but not much to see. Aside from the fact that I painted the new one black I guess.
I sold the hood I bought previously and picked up a cervini's hood. Slightly smaller cowl, and I like the finished underside. I definitely didn't need a 3.5" cowl on a v6, lol
Here is my car with no hood, for the lulz
Some not so great pictures of my new hood. I had to spend a couple hours getting it lined up right. Had to adjust the hood hinges and then mess with the latch for awhile. The latch needed adjusted anyway, I used to have to drop my stock hood from about 3 feet to get it to close. I actually noticed I dented the top of my intercooler from the latch hitting it when I did that lol. It closes with a small push once it is on the safety latch now, wooo.
I was getting a bad glare in all these pics for some reason.
I also decided to repaint my strut tower brace color matched silver. It isn't perfect, it was wrinkle black before and it really could have used sandblasted as there were some areas I couldn't get sanded down to my liking
I just dropped the car off for paint yesterday. Ryan at Hoffman Auto Body down in Bethel Park is doing it. It is getting the hood repainted, aerocatch latches put in, the front bumper resprayed, an imperfection in my rear bumper cover fixed, and hopefully the rear fenders rolled. I was going to roll them myself but then saw the condition of the paint on the passenger side fender that was previously repaired, and was uncomfortable with trying to roll it. I had the feeling that I was going to ruin what was left of the paint in the inner fender lip.
I'll get some more pics once I pick it up from paint.

Nice choice on the hood. I like the look of that cobra R style hood on any 94 and newer mustang. If I ever swap hoods on my new car that's the style I'm going with

Yeah I really like that hood. Cervini calls it a 3.5" cowl but is really a 2.5" or so. I think they measure their hoods differently than the other companies or something. A nice subtle rise though. I needed a little bit of clearance as my hood was rubbing on my throttle body. Functional heat vents in the back too.
I will say if you're looking to lose weight, this hood probably weighs as much, or maybe even a bit more than the stock one. I'm assuming due to the finished underside.

Haven't updated this in awhile. I picked the car up from the paint shop about 3 weeks ago. Looks good. The body shop ended up putting the hood pins in for me as I didn't have the hood lined up quite right when I dropped it off.
Haven't gotten any good pictures yet, but here is a general idea.
I've also forever been having an issue with the stupid coolant bypass tube and it being in the way with this upper intake. I decided to cut it up and make my own. This is what I ended up with after a couple days, I think I can figure out a better solution eventually, but at the current moment this works for now.
This is the original pipe - I ended up cutting the T portion completely out, but had to re-use the section before it that goes into the water pump.
I got my strut bar and radiator cover on as well.
I also bought a set of these off ebay
A few guys online have bought them, and they seemingly are okay. For the price compared to retrofitting a set of headlights, I decided to pull the trigger. They should be here on monday, and then I'll be waiting for my HID bulbs from DDM, which will most likely take forever as they ship them China post mail. I'll post my thoughts on them when I get them though.
If they work okay,I am going to most likely open them up and paint that chrome projector shroud black. Someone else did so, and they look really good.

Headlights showed up today. They actually look to be pretty decent quality.
The chrome shroud actually doesn't look bad on a silver car but I will probably still paint them black.
I installed just the one to see if it works, plugged it in with just the provided bulb. Works pretty well, and the projector looks to have a decent cut off, at least from what I can tell in my garage. High beam motor works as well. Waiting on my new HID bulbs still (****ing chinese post, lol), then I'll get some more pics. If everything works I will probably paint the shrouds and make sure I seal them up really well.

Got the headlights wired and they work. I'm going to pull them back off, paint the projector shrouds black, and seal them up nice.
The driver's side got some condensation in it so I need to seal them anyway, so I figure I might as well paint them now.
Will post pics later

I decided I wanted the shrouds black, and pulled them apart. Total pain in the ass.

Final product, although not back together yet
So at this point, the car was all ready for Carlisle Ford Nationals.
Or So I thought.
Long story short, I hit one of those gas pump manhole cover things at a gas station, and it knocked a transmission mount bolt out of the mount. My driveshaft loop became loose because it only had one bolt holding it on. I tightened it back down on the side of the road and we were off again.
Just kidding. About a half hour later the driveshaft loop was smacking off my driveshaft again. Decided to pull the driveshaft loop off. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a bad idea. Taking the one remaining transmission mount bolt out to get the driveshaft loop off, meant I wasn't able to get the transmission bolted back to the mount. With the car twisted with only one side in the air, it is almost impossible to line the holes up.
Luckily, I met a really nice PENNDOT worked who said we could probably use some tools at their garage a few miles down the road.
Got it all fixed up, and the shop mechanic even gave me a bolt to replace the one that felt out. Back on the road, we made it to Ford Nats about 3.5 hours later than expected.
Bam, here we are.

Hit up some autox a couple weeks ago.
andddd then more problems. Last weekend, had my blowoff valve get stuck open.
bumper coming back off.
Got that fixed up, took it for a ride, blew coolant everywhere. ****.
Ended up being the coolant line coming out of the lower intake.... which meant strut tower brace and entire upper intake had to come off.
That is fixed now as well.
When I was messing with the blow off valve I decided to drain my catch can. I don't think I've emptied it since last summer. Holy hell. Six ounces of nasty stuff inside.
Catch cans are your friend on boosted cars guys!
