5.0 on E85, anyone running it?

Picked up a set of LU47s, planning on going to E85 on the '14 over the weekend. Been reading about a bunch of wideband failures from moisture issues with longtubes where they are mounted horizontally (basically every header except Kooks, I have Pypes stepped longtubes).

Anyone running E85? Trying to see if it is overblown or not. Might just have to relocate sensors so they are pointed downwards, which seems to solve the issue.

    1. Placement for and aft may have an effect on the 02's. Some wrap the headers to retain the heat. They have a heater in them and if down stream too far may cause heater to prematurely expire.
    2. Angle of 02. Some manufacturers place them in the 3 and 9 o'clock and the moisture can collect on them. Supposedly cracking the ceramic. Adjusting angle to allow moisture to not collect is an option.
    3. Kooks mid length headers have the 02's positioned in such a manner that many e85 users do not take out the 02's. Not saying nobody has had an issue. Two coyotes I know of have the kooks and are free from that issue.

Yes it seems that the Kooks do not have the issue. May try wrapping mine and carry a spare sensor, seems some have had success.

Yes, that's why I ended up with them. Think I'll try the header wrap and see if that works.

Yes they would. Unfortunately the class I race in requires a stock long block. Still debating on the Boss intake or not, not sure if I wanna deal shifting it at 7500+, already doesn't really like going into second much over 7200 (don't normally shift that high, was just testing to see how it shifted).

Oh yeah, I would love to rev it. Just want to get the twin disc and shifter first. Done dumping money into it for a while. Just ordered a new set of 315 Hoosier A7s so no mods for a few weeks :)

It's not uncommon to pick up 14-18 rwhp on corn. It was well worth it with availability within 15-25 min.

Nice! Speedway just opened a little while ago in Perryopolis. Tested it a few day ago and topped the tank off. Checked out about 85-86. Mpg went from about 26 to 19 on the highway.

Mark - is that 14 mpg before or after your gear swap?

After. Seemed to get worse after 3.31 swap. But it was never that great. Got 22 on a trip, but usually mixed I got 15-16 when it was stock.

I lost about 8mpg overall from OEM stock on 93 to FBO E85.

There is a nice $1.00 split between E85 and 93 octane though right now.
