    Allegheny County Emissions Inspection

    Hey Guys,

Im back in the Cobra game with another 2003 Whipple Cobra. This one comes with a built motor and Comp Stg 3 Cams with long tubes. I had a couple of questions regarding emissions inspection in Allegheny and the computers. This car has the EGR removed and tuned out as well as an ORX pipe. It's not throwing any codes and I do plan to put cats on it. My question is whether it would pass the computer or not as is (I realize it wouldn't pass a visual if they looked for cats and the fumes will be obvious)? I've searched the net and it seems that this has been accomplished elsewhere and is possible but may not work either. Does anyone know if I need to hook an EGR back up if the MAC long tubes accommodate that? The last thing I want to do is put stock manifolds on and find an EGR system just to get an inspection sticker. Clearly this would require another tune as well. The work and $$ start to really add up fast (not sure I could even figure out how the EGR goes back on myself, lol). I passed with my old Cobra but we left the EGR on since I lived in PA and used Bassani mids, which must've had the EGR hookup. Thanks! PM me if you prefer!

In PA, cars 2001 and newer can have 1 OBDII monitor show up as "not ready"
with the EGR turned off in the tune, it will show up as not ready.
That being said, if you put cats on it, and leave the rear 02s on, the EGR should, hypothetically, be the only monitor that shows as not ready, and the car should pass.

All that being said, you will have to find a garage willing to work with you.
Keep it under 5000 miles a year and you get an exempt sticker.

Worst case, if you need a set of Bassani mids with X-pipe I can help you out. I also have a new egr valve but I am not sure where the tube for it is.
