Mark, did you run into Bryan Smith (black/yellow Camaro guy)? He was flagging.

Looks like a lot of fun! How did you get involved with that?
Don't remember speaking to him to be honest. What corner was he working? Talked to a ton of people this weekend they kind of all run together in my mind.
Always wanted to but never knew how, then after I had autocrossed and done some track days (which I tired of quickly) I was looking for something a little more intense, found a hillclimb (Snowshoe Hillclimb 2006), bought the safety equipment and entered. Been hooked ever since.
I luckily became friends with a guy who raced a fox body and wrecked it on the street, bought some parts off of him and I found out he hillclimbed so he pointed me in the right direction.

That's awesome, thank you for sharing. I have a Evo that just sits in my garage that I'd love to do something with. It was a drag car and has a lot of the safety equipment to go 8.90's. There might not be the need to do much more to it to get it up to spec regarding safety...minus changing out this massive hairdryer of a turbo..lol I may pick your brain some more tho if that's ok or check out a race. When and where is your next race? It looks like so much fun and I can see myself quickly getting tired of autocross.
Don't sell autocross short as an important first step, though. It is truly unique in the demands that it puts on man and machine. Everything happens so fast, and you really develop some quick reactions. I've had the skills learned at the autocross save my ass driving on the street, and it's excellent car-control training for other, faster, forms of motorsport.
Yeah man anytime. The goal has always been to run something with ridiculous power. The speeds at some of the events can get pretty ridiculous for the conditions of the roads though. Even my old stock C5Z got up to 137 across the finish at Duryea, which is next weekend. August 15-16, Reading, Pa.

Just got home from running the Weatherly Hillclimb. Ran 54.7, new ESP class record. Fastest doorslammer. Didn't wreck. Only ran a few times and got tired of jumping the car and parked it. Video of a 55.0 run, entered turn 1 a bit early and braked a bit early in a couple places in this. Have outside video of the jump I will try to post up on my wife's phone.

Yes it was pretty rough. At minimum a belt in the left rear tire is broken. No big deal just has a little wobble. 550lb springs up front nowhere near enough to keep 3800lbs from bottoming there. Gonna go with better struts and around an 800 lb spring for next year.

Shitty quality, but outside video from the jump. Hard to tell from the video but the jump is actually in the middle of a corner so it is very difficult to hit it without landing sideways.

Not sure. Between that and a Cobra Jet. Really the only thing the car really needs is more power. Would love to do a blower but not sure the funds will be there for next year and I don't think it would last long either. The times the car puts down are ridiculous for what is done to it, at 700 whp I would have a real chance at fastest overall at every hill. Usually in the top 5-10 out of 80-120 cars, and this thing is practically stock. These are amazing cars.
There are many places where running the car out to 7800 would be very beneficial, and I am not under 5000 rpm very often either. If I do stay NA I will likely end up with a CJ setup.

Freaking crazy man, looks like blast. Big set to race a newer car like that!
Awesome Mark! I'd love to catch a ride before you change your suspension setup. Is it still very streetable or super stiff?
