Same mind set works if you shopping for a garden tractor. (I just did this so its fresh in my mind.) You can go to a Lowes and get a green tractor with JD sticker slapped on it while being built in china, then complain about JD to everyone you see or you can go to a place that sells the real deal and be happy for years.

The he tractor scenario isn't completely true.....the JD mower sold at lowes is now the EXACT same one you get at the JD dealership. We have Middletown Tractor sales here and they are a large JD dealer. They personally told me and showed me it's the same tractor at Lowes...down to the part number and model number. MTS here is even setting them up for the local Lowes. All JD on display at lowes has a sticker on them stating this and provides info for service at MTS. Didn't used to be this way but times have changed

I agree with a majority of what has been said. The funny part is that the people fighting for the $15 an hr don't seem to have a clue that most people making a decent wage had to pay a majority of it back into school loans. These payments go on for years. Heck they want more then some people with education started out at.

Who do you want to "force" Walmart to pay more? The government? Like Stangman said, that's called communism. I don't even have the time or patience to pick the rest of your post apart. It's so illogical and twisted up, not even funny. I assume you work at walmart ???

Maybe things changed since last year but I couldn't find a cast iron front axle or a sheet metal deck on anything at Lowes so I was on my way.

You still can't find a commercial or industrial tractor there. Not at any Lowes or Home Depot that I have seen. I guess JD sold out to the Chinese. Oh well. They've been off my list for years now anyway for my requirements.

How do you solve the problem then mr logical and funny? walmart employs thousands at minimum wage, those said thousands get gov assist because of the low pay and buy things at walmart. Possibly raise the minimum wage on companies that employ "x" amount of people? Maybe try giving a solution instead of smartass remarks?

Even if they get pushed up a bracket, you don't pay that higher amount on your total wages, just the amount that is over the threshold. You can't lose money by making more (in general).

As far as the minimum wage, I could be on board with an increase, but why jump all the way to $15/hr?

Well, personally, I don't think there is a problem. The OP thinks the problem is paying $15/hr for minimum wage. I agree with him. YOU obviously think there is a problem. YOU and a bunch of uneducated, hippie, lazy f*cktards that have all day to picket businesses holding pieces of cardboard with misspelled words. If it wasn't for walmart and every other company paying minimum wage to somebody willing to take it than we would be paying 100% of their gov't assistance. Instead, they do have a job and we're only paying a portion of it. That's OK. Like somebody already stated, walmart and other minimum wage jobs are just that and they require minimum effort and minimum thought. They aren't meant to be turned into a career. (to get off on a tangent, if we paid the regular workers 15/hr, how much would management make? 20-25 per hour? You'd be stealing people from actual good-paying industries to manage your walmart. haha) So, I worked 4 crap jobs when I was in high school and college. Got out of college and got a job in a decent industry and been working my way up through the ranks for 22 years (and paid back my school loans --- I suppose YOU support the govt's plan to eliminate that, too???) Don't even call me LUCKY. Yes, maybe lucky that I picked an industry that's still in this area. Never lucky that I worked up to 70 hours per week most of my twenties and now usually 50 hours per week and I don't think that's a lot. If you work at walmart or any of these other jobs, you go to school part-time, you go to a trade school, etc. and you move on. Period. There is no problem here that needs a solution.

This actually happened to me this past Sunday... go to Wendy's to pick up lunch for my dad and his stupid dog. I pull to the first window and hand the pudgy 17 year-old girl exact change. She has nothing to do. She does not have to hand anything back to me. I am staring at her. I want her to say "THANK YOU". She looked at me and actually said (while motioning with her hands), "Ummm, you can drive up to the next window now). <--- insert the most condescending teenage tone you can think of. Yes, this happened. The next girl handed me my food and said, "Have a nice one". At least, that changed from "Have a good one", but still no THANK YOU. Somebody hands you money and/or patronizes the business you work at, you say THANK YOU. Period. I don't think that girl deserved minimum wage to tell you the truth. F*ck, my dad's dog said THANK YOU when I gave him his double stack.

A huge % of kids today are complete social misfits. Make that ENTITLED social misfits. I still call men "Sir" and women "Ma'am" when I'm out and about. Stems from me working for my Dad all thru high school where being polite and respectful was expected...and not just a pleasant surprise.

It's the entitled world we live in. Nearly every jerkoff on the planet now thinks there every want and need should be provided for. Phones, healthcare, dental, housing, food, transportation. Leach it off the government teet, or demand more money from your employer (if you actually get off your dead ass and get a job), not because you deserve it, because you want it. **** your wants. If you want it work hard and get it. Shitty job doesn't pay enough then better yourself, or work two shitty jobs. There's nearly no work ethics left in this country. I see it every day and I'm just "generation x" age. I don't how our fathers and grandfathers don't lose their minds with the state of this country. Christ almighty I just heard a proposal to provide free wi-fi to welfare recipients. WTF. Let me guess, it's so they can more actively seek employment on the web. Give me a break.

Insert Walt Kowalski from Gran Torino, Cam !!!

I took my old man to Home Depot a few years ago, we bought something (was not a lot of money) and left. The girl (as usual) didn't say anything. no thing at all. She was not young... in her thirties. I didn't even know my old man was pissed off. It was raining outside, he lights a cigarette in the parking lot and doesn't want to get in the car yet. So, I stand there listening to his mini-rant in the parking lot in the rain. I will summarize below... removing all of the GD, JC and F words.

"When I was young, you got a job. If you didn't like that job, you got another job. If you didn't like that job, you join the military [which is what he did], if you get out of the Navy and you can't get a job because you're stupid, then you got smart [which is what he did --- took night classes while working in steel mill]".

    That's my example.

Silverhatch... I will give you this one. There is a problem. A problem with the family core. (You could argue with my above post that my parents provided food and shelter for me while I was in high school and part of college and took care of some of my needs until I was 22 --- which is correct). So, the breakdown of the family core in this country is the problem. If these parents would actually stay together and love their kids, provide them with food, shelter, a warm bed, somebody to help with their homework, etc. etc.etc..... then they (maybe) might not grow up into these entitled lunatics.

Holy Cows somebody struck a nerve here. I could go on all night with this bullshit. What happens next year when they don't get a 5% raise. $15.75 per hour in 2016 is what the sign will say. I work with a guy, you could pay him $200,000 a year doing what we do and he'd come in tomorrow bitching about something. Point is,,, the 15.00 wouldn't even be enough. And/or they'd all go out and buy Cadillac Escalades with 24" wheels because they'd be riiiiich, bitch... then default on the loan.

    Sheetz.

have you ever ordered at Sheetz? It works great. The computer records exactly what you want for a wage of $0. How long will fast food pay counter help $15/hour when a computer (which admittedly costs something to buy... but doesn't want benefits and won't sue you for anything) can do much of the job for nothing?

Don't like Walmart? Don't shop there. Think they pay too little? Good for you. Tell all the people working there to go get a job elsewhere. Most of them can't. Know why? They don't work and they aren't worth $5/hr let alone $15. If they were working Walmart would eagerly promote them... Or somebody shopping at Walmart would offer them a better job.

Good people get jobs. Dregs get minimum wage.
