    Thanks Chuck and Sam!

Tom - it is a 425. THM = ?...Turbo Hydro Matic? The tranny is beefy in these things. If you can make it fit in your car it would probably handle almost anything you could throw at it. Heck - they survived 385hp and a mountain of torque in a 4670 pound car, and were used in the huge fwd GMC motorhomes that weighed a bunch more than that.

I think using this will be my backup plan if my 4t80 fails. I have to switch the motor from transverse to longitudinal though.

Today I squeezed the big girl into my garage. My driveway is uphill so it was interesting. I had to roll 2 wheels off the trailer, down the ramps and into the garage. Then I had to pull the truck/trailer forward and then roll the Olds' back 2 wheels off the trailer and down the ramps. I really need a house with a flat lot and more garage space...

Yep - it was originally Dubonnet, which is a plum/maroon color. The re-spray is a Maserati color that is similar. I plan on trying to salvage the current color. The money will be spent on getting the mechanicals up-to-par. Most of the elbow grease will be spent on the overall cleaning and detailing. We are heading out on vacation tonight and I'm really looking forward to it. But I can't wait to dive into this project once we get back!

Has anyone here had AMF blast and powdercoat parts? How'd they turn out? Cost? I'm thinking these wheels would be good candidates for either silver or chrome-like powdercoating. Back in '66 they were available either way.

I also am leaning toward redline radials. The spare - now on the car - is a neat 3-redline tire that ,to me, looks pretty cool. I'd love to find something like this...

the redlines with those wheels in chrome would look pretty cool.

Does it not have a passenger side mirror from the factory?

I'm leaning toward the chrome-like finish as well.

The passenger door isn't drilled for a side mirror. I will have to do some research on that. The driver's side mirror is missing - hopefully it won't be too hard to find.
