ServPro or ServiceMaster - anyone deal with them?

Water heater leaked while I was on vacation, don't know how long, but the entire basement was wet. Instant mold/mildew. Insurance company says they "partner" with these companies for mold/mildew remediation. Anyone have any feedback? My fear is they have their deal, at the insured's (me) expense. I want to be as sure as possible they take care of everything, as in carpet gone, paneling gone, etc.

I don't have any experience with either, but I have heard of both. Sorry about the HWH - that sucks.

A restoration company with an affiliation with the insurance company is a good thing. It ensures that they meet certain standards and procedures. If it saves the insurance company money than it could also be saving you money, it just depends whether it would be a covered loss or not.

Thanks all. I'm going with ServPro, I am pretty sure. I talked to the folks out of Greensburg, closest one to me. It is covered, thankfully. I don't get paranoid about much, but I don't want to play around with mold/mildew. It's everywhere.

I've only been a homeowner for 2 years, first time I've had to fix something. Instantly missing that part of renting, where it was someone else's responsibility. It's mostly an inconvenience, and if it was going to go, I'm glad it went in the summer, where I could tough out a cold shower better than I would in winter.

    Thanks for the offer, PJ.

    Thanks Erin, that is reassuring.
