    My 15 Ram

We took my junk to the track Friday night to break in new tires and test a few things. Put my wife in my truck to make a few test passes to see if it would at least go 15-0 so she could run it at NMCA ...

1st pass in it the truck went 14.6x, later got it going 14.33

i was pretty impressed for bone stock to the air filter ...

truck is a regular cab, 5.7 hemi, 8 speed transmission, 3.92 gears and sure grips ... Got me thinking about s CAI and muffler now :)

my my junk is now on 28" tires ...

I put the magnaflow catback on mine, sounds amazing! No drone on the interstate, sounds like a muscle truck around town.

I think mine would be the same as the mufflex mellow if you like the stock exhaust tips.

    Here is mine:

    mufflex:

It looks like the mufflex keeps the resonator, so you could probably get a louder one and the resonators would quiet it down, the magnaflow catback doesn't have resonators.

    Shopping a little on exhaust.

found another option like Mufflex ... http://www.boeschbuilt.com/#!2009-20...-exhaust/c1bbr

also FlowMaster makes a bolt in Muffler

    still haven't decided, lol

When I researched mine, I saw several posts that said that the flowmasters only last a couple years before they rust out. That alone made me put magnaflow higher.

Although, the flowmaster probably does sound better...

FWIW, the FlowMaster in question is part number 817568 and is supposed to be Stainless Steel. It is more expensive than these other options for s muffler replacement.

here is a YouTube of it ...

Cool, I do remember seeing the flowmaster SS ones. They just aren't as common. You wouldn't go wrong with either that or the magnaflow.

When I was searching, I think all the catbacks from flowmaster weren't ss, I needed a catback because my truck came with the single out.

    Here is the muffler ...

and their dyno sheet over stock ....

Have you done any research on CAI's? Anything much better than the K&N kit? Seems like a decent set-up for around 15 hp / 15 ft/lbs.

I've not weighed it. According to this, it's 4920 #'s with regular cab, short box, A8, 4wd, and 3.92 ... I suspect my truck is average options, so likely in the right realm.

Nice times for a stock truck! I had a new ram as a rental and thought it felt pretty quick for being stock.

The magnaflow is supposed to be 11, so they seem similar there.

Thats about all I found too for a CAI. I haven't been looking very hard though. Are you going to tune it too? I was thinking just do the cai and exhaust on mine for now.

I ordered the FlowMaster muffler and K&N CAI ....

for reference Summit sells a Trick Flow branded CAI that even has the K&N instructions. It shows out of stock, and I got a little bit of a hook up on the K&N to bring it to a few dollars of the Trick Flow part. Also K&N has a rebate to months end.
