    Which coils?

Had a coil go bad on the 2000 GT last week. Since it seems that coils are an issue I'd like to know what brand are typically used as replacements on these cars. I bought a Motorcraft at Advance for $55. After the repair I see that entire sets are available for under $200.

I have replaced with an Autolite one on my car and no issues to note, but have heard Motorcraft is the best option. Did you try sourcing them on rockauto or Amazon at all? Sometimes can be significantly cheaper than Advance/Auto Zone

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

Dan.........I just wanted to get the car running good again. Cindy has been wanting to run it and the sputter was annoying. I used an online Advance coupon and saved $10 but it still hurt. I'd like to get an extra or two since we plan on road tripping this car quite a bit. They take up no space and would be awesome to have along if you ever needed one.

LMR has a four pack of MC for $210. So the Advance price was close.

I wouldn't recommend anything other than Motorcraft. They are supposed to be better than msd and Accell.

Will they work on the 2000 GT? I thought some were taller than others. If they will work then I am interested.

Dan, these were taken out of a Lightning 5.4. You can do some research and let me know. I'm crazy busy right now, so if you want them just cover shipping and I'll send them out.

Use Ford made coils. Avoid the Granacrappy coils like the plague. Avoid MSD ones also.

I used generic coils on my 2005 escape. CPU went out of it not long after. Maybe coincidence I dunno. One of them actually melted and almost caught fire though during the computer melt down. OEM for sure.
