With the minimal mods (cai and cb), would the pre-loaded tune that comes on the SCT X4 be comparable to what Tim would be able to get out of it with a custom tune? I'd have to purchase the device no matter what... and if I take it to Tim in the future, he can use it to load his tune, right?

I would think Tim's tune would be alot better. I have an extra sct4 that I'm going to get rid of once I send it back to sct and get it cleared.

Well, I don't have a lot of time to get down to Tim's any time soon. The pre-load on the SCT has got to be, at least, better than stock and it certainly wouldn't "hurt" to run it until I could get some custom-tune time, right ?

Might be worth shopping around to see if you can find one with custom tunes included at no cost. I know Bama isn't the greatest, but they're not going to blow up your mostly stock car and will likely make a little more power than the canned SCT tune. You get two custom tunes included at the same price and they could easily revise the tune for minor mods like off-road mid pipe or gears. http://www.americanmuscle.com/x4-cus...er-2015gt.html

There might be better tuners out there who offer similar deals.

was just looking at that exact link before I logged on here... they have a package with the Airaid cai that's on the car, too, so shouldn't be a problem to get that tune... still researching.

One of the best mods I've found to do to a s550 is the rear subframe lockout kits. It is super easy to install, helps with wheel hop and tightens the rear suspension way up! The lethal resonator delete is a must IMO!
2015 A6 Mustang GT that so far has gone 9.48@147 but still the fastest prochargerd S550 in the world aside from Tim Essick's!
