I'd like to go to Cumberland but I have to work on Saturday. North hills puts a fun event on, don't autocross much anymore with hillclimbing and TT but when I do I usually end up running there. Plus it's like 35 min away.

May have to take a ride down and watch. I'd like to try it but want to have an idea of how the whole thing works first.

Honestly, I would take the car and do it. I watched one before I participated in one and it isn't particularly helpful just to watch. From a spectator point of view you can't usually see the whole course and it is hard to get an understanding of what is going on.
Usually the event coordinators are helpful to new racers and will ride with you if you need some help.

I've been to 3 or 4 autocross events now and they're pretty fun, even if you suck (like me). lol.

There are enough people around that are extremely helpful, you are allowed passengers so you can ask someone to ride with you your first couple times.
