Speedo will be off abs sensor, some 400s have a vss

If trying to be a fast car th400 makes sense

Could look into a 4r100 but no brake option and heavy as hell

4l80 will do the job and brakes are available for it

Stronger and cheaper yes - but is it the right choice for the application?

For my truck.......yes. It's a local run around vehicle, doesn't seem many street miles and is a low buck project.

For someone else that drives more miles and with a higher dollar build, it may not be the best choice.
