You know you need Garrett FTW:

The right exhaust housing (0.95 A/R?) should spool nicely and give you the powerband you want.
EDIT...
Oh yea... 2 is always better than 1 :)

Yea I just saw the price tag on the 4088... don't blame ya!
Thanks to Fast Gypsy for a great deal on a set of Precision 4.10 gears! These look nearly new! This should really wake up the Mach 1. I will definitely be running a 28" tire at the track with tubes.
My target mph is 135. I expect to go through the 1/4 at 6600 RPM with the 4.10 and a 28" tire, or somewhere close to that. I don't think the Mach 1 will have any trouble at 7000 RPM.

I'm finally in the process of rebuilding the spare TR3650 to hold the power the car makes. Details here: TR3650 Rebuild

McLeod RXT clutch is ordered and should be here in a couple of weeks.
I went ahead and bought a new friction disc for a Fidanza flywheel I have. For $51 it's a lot cheaper than buying a whole new flywheel.
It will sure be nice to see all of these parts ON the car. :)

i always felt with the disc being separate from the rest of the flywheel it would be more susceptible to warpage since it won't shed heat as fast as a solid 1 piece deal.
Hope you have good results.

Blow proof bell FTW. Especially with that much power. Why does your tranny need such extensive mods to run one?

The TR3650 has an integrated bellhousing, meaning if the bellhousing comes off the guts fall out. In order to use a blow proof housing I need to buy an expensive adapter, which essentially closes off the transmission and includes the machined parts for the bearings, shift rails, etc. Below is an email response from Stan when I asked about this:
Yes, there is a custom front housing/adapter plate. It REPLACES the front housing/bell housing and bolts to a Quicktime bell housing for a FORD T5/TKO.
There are some unusual particulars to using this though…
First, it was designed for the 2005-2010 TR3650 and accepts that hydraulic cylinder.
For a 2001-2004 TR3650 it requires the LONGER Input Shaft (as used with a 2005-2010).
Next, to use the fork-type throwout bearing, you need the ALL STEEL T-5 front bearing retainer for a Fox Mustang.
This retainer must be machined down on the transmission end to fit flush and be perfectly centered on the alignment boss that is on the front plate.
Then, remember I said a T-5/TKO Scatter Shield. Well, it then requires the use of the T-5 alignment ring that comes with the QuickTime Scatter Shield so that it will center the transmission in the scatter shield opening. This adapter plate uses the TKO Bolt pattern…
If you need to go this way with these custom gears that you just bought, you will have to exchange your 01-04 length input shaft for an 05-10 length input shaft.

I have...and even if I hadn't, the thermo doesn't lie.
Even two machined surface bolted tight will still have a boundary layer that will definitely hurt heat transfer.
Another thing, stainless hardware plus excessive heat = galling and possibly difficult screw removal.
Personally i am just not a fan of that setup.
For a small ci engine in a relatively heavy car, i would probably choose a steel flywheel...
I am curious what Bob runs in his capri.

I started to look into that, but not extensively. Seemed the trans blankets are more for containing fluid than projectile flywheel pieces. There may certainly be blankets out there that would work, but like I said I didn't look too awfully hard. What I found was geared for autos.
Thanks for the flywheel input.

I could be wrong, but pretty sure he runs a flywheel made of unicorn hooves and bonded together with a special blend of pixie milk and shark sperm. And nawz plumed into the bellhousing. Keeps things cool and less explosive.
But actually......I think he runs steel. Has something to do with spinning momentum once the clutch is applied and getting the car moving with the small CI motor.
Or I'm just completely full of crap and the unicorn hooves do all the work.
F Forgestar.
Trying to get a few minutes here and there to put towards the car. I'm still waiting on some trans parts to arrive, and I'm on travel soon for work, so it will still be a while before I get that together.
No problems at all replacing the friction disc in the Fidanza flywheel:
A previous owner had nitrous in the car and a custom switch panel in the dash. I plan on using one of those switches for turning off the fuel pumps manually so they don't continually pump fuel while the accessories are on but the car is off (return fuel system).
It has what looks like an MGW shifter. I may look into a slightly longer shifter handle because this one is crazy short.
Some other things I need to tackle are cleaning this poor car! Every inch of the interior needs thoroughly cleaned. The cig power port doesn't work. I need to trace that and figure out why. There are probably 5 lbs of wires run in the car that go nowhere from a sound system and nitrous.
