    WTB: 331 or 347 SBF

Got a buddy needing one for his 4000lb truck which is a cruiser.

    Engine should be:

    Turn key
    Lower miles
    Absent of using oil
    Long block
Hydraulic roller cam preferred but not required
std port heads - iron or alum ok
    Basically 100% mechanically sound
Able to see/hear run prior to purchase

    Engine should not be:

    Aftermarket block
big cam (anything more than 240 @ .050)
    complete with EFI
in need of any kind of repair
    solid flat tappet or roller
    high port heads

Please let me know what you have.

It would have to be priced such that it makes sense to buy a used one.

New FRPP crates' are around $5k but a little more than he is looking for.

I think he could get a milder built stroker using cleaned up iron heads for $3500 from a machine shop. (which would suit him just fine)

So, the price range for him to buy a used complete engine needs to be in the $2500-3000 range otherwise it doesn't make financial sense.

It is the unknown differences between the 8.2 and 9.5 deck engines when they are installed in the F100 that makes him want to stay 8.2.

However, in comparing engine cost of 8.2 vs 9.5 I completely agree.

    His projects are never K.I.S.S.

    This time it is.

Lots of room in those. Did a 429CJ swap on one a few years ago.

Not saying to do a BBF but the 9.5 would be a no brainer. But getting an already done 331 or 347 will likely be easier to find.

Agree not bad....however just ordered him a 302 crate about 2 hrs ago from speedway motors.

Should be perfect for this cruiser truck.

Thanks for the heads up. Thread can be closed.
