lost all tension on the clutch cable?

Took the car for a quick spin today and during a high rpm 2-3 shift I lost all tension on the clutch. Drifted off the road and got it flatbedded back to my house. Getting to be a common sight. The cable isn't broke but the clutch pedal just flops around. No tension at all. I tried to take a pick of both end. Is it possible that the quadrent lost it's orientation on the shaft? I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like

Check to see if that stock quadrant didn't slip from it's position. It might need readjusted which is easy on those.

    or the crappy

You sure the clutch disc didn't blow apart? Had that happen years ago at Quaker. Made a pass and clutch pedal just flopped around at 2-3 shift. Got it home and found disc material blown apart and stuck between pressure plate and flywheel.

Push up on that plastic piece and you will hear it ratchet up if that is the problem.

The clutch is pretty worn (looked at it when the tranny just got changed) but didn't change it because i will need a stronger trans in there and it will be a 26 spline unit so figured buying a 10 spline was a waste. Curious if it explodes does it take all the pressure off the clutch?

Thought you might have custom headers to match that exhaust.

Well, climb under the car to see if you can move the cable/fork by hand. If you can, time to pull the tranny.

Idk about new edge cars, but my foxes came from the factory with a two piece like design for the quadrant that was plastic and had plastic teeth. It was "self adjusting", but with abuse the teeth would sheer off and it would do what your describing. The pic of the quadrant you posted appears to be the same color and everything. My guess is that if you have the same factory quadrant like the fox bodies, you sheered all the teeth off. Get an aftermarket aluminum one. Crawl up under the dash and get a close look at that quadrant.

It's up on stands now. The cable is very free, the fork has alot of tension on it. Haven't tried to move it with a prybar yet

That's what i was thinking it might have been, but not sure what it's supposed to look like. I'll get a closer look at it

Yeah if the fork doesn't move freely I bet the quadrant took a shit. I tried a few different quadrants including a fiore and ended up with a steeda quick release quadrant and firewall adjuster. Ramp size on the quadrant took up a lot of slack for more adjustment. I also ended up running a return spring.

If u put ur head under the dash and listen closely u will probably hear the plastic teeth stripping on each other. It was a funky design but the teeth could stay engauged to each other, they shouldn't be slipping on each other at all from what I remember. The fact that's it's factory I'd bet lots and lots of money this is the problem.

Yes. My clutch pedal was useless. Just dropped to floor. The clutch material gets pressure plate all jammed open like you pushed pedal.

I'd check over that quadrant first. Easier thing to replace if need be.
