It's a valve control issue at its root, add in what is probably a thousand passes and pulls on this head, and now running huge spring pressure for the last few seasons ... It had to be floating based on the retainers and broken lash adjusters.

i was just taking some measurements on a new parts package I'm going to try .... My current spring is a double with a damper that weighs 111 grams. I don't have notes on what my retainers weigh, but suspect it's around 30 grams (will weigh on tear down).

i now have a beehive that I can make work that is 75 grams with a 12 gram retainer (chrome moly). I won't give up anything on the seat, but it will be around 20# less at lift. I think I can get away with that with less mass in the spring and retainer.

We still have stupid heavy followers and valves that we run. If we can save my head I may try a 7mm stem valve going forward.

the "funny" thing is that I tapped the bearing back into the bore, put the valve cover back on, and drove it in the trailer with good oil pressure

I can get them.... 4x the cost for 2 grams lighter than the chrome moly I got. My retainer was 29 grams, so this new package took 54 grams off each valve

This is a loaner head that has a cam in it. I hope mine is ok, otherwise this is plan B .... I dropped the trailer off Saturday night and haven't opened it since. I might go unload the car tomorrow and tear into it next week.
