    Team z k member question

Wondering if any of u guys have experienced this. I put a new metal matrix series k member and arms in my 94 and I know the rack is offset towards the pass side 3/8 per team z so I bought offset bushings but no matter what I do with the rack bushings I still have way more right turn that left. Rack is centered turns wise. Now I can trim some inner tie rod off the pass side to make it work but the drivers side is close to the end probly only 5/8 thread engagement. Is this something a bump steer kit would cure? Just seems a little close on threds to me but the k member is square and centered so I'm stumped? Thanks in advance.

Ran into same issue. I ended up having the offset rack bushing set to push rack to driver side. Now granted I am also using their a-arms made 1" shorter for a 94-04. So I have more than plenty threads for tie-rods and that already having trimmed the threads 1" for my QA1 setup with Fox arms prior. What I see is rack mount really could be set to driver about 1/2". Not sure why they have them like that. Totally opposite of what my QA1 was. It pushed everything to driver side.

I also had to rip my steering shaft apart and put it back together with slip side turned 1/4 turn to get steering wheel where it needed to be. Rack is still "turned" more towards driver side. Not a big deal really but annoying none the less. Will have to redo once manual rack is in place. Worst case I cut the welds for the rack mounts and move everything to driver side and weld back in place.

Mine is fox based, but couldn't get the rack on without offset rack bushings. I did end up using a Steeda bump steer kit anyway, so I never tried the stock ends

Interesting issues. I had Dave's K member in my red fox. Didn't have to change anything.

Yea it's crazy everything is pushed toward the passenger side a good bit I did cut the pass side inner down some and can make it work but the drivers side is so close to the end I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it and I hate to cut anything on a brand new piece. I talked with team z and they assure me it can't be that far off on there end bc of the jig they put everything in for welding. Kinda funny tho if u Google search it there is a thread on the corrall about it but no deffenint answer to the problem. I guess I'll order a bump steer kit next week and hope it cures the problem. Wish someone had one I could try so I could see if it cures it or if I need to move the rack.

I have chunks of their piece of crap bump steer kit, but you have to drill the steering ear on the spindle for a through bolt and can't go back to a tapered end. The Steeda bump steer kit is great and uses a taper end.

I've seen that thread on Corral also regarding rack placement.

QA1 also uses tapered fitting. That is what I have currently.

I didn't know theirs was too, good to know. Main point is get one that uses tapered ends and don't buy Team Z's

Friend of mine had all sorts of trouble with getting his Team Z K to work and ended up selling it and getting a maximum motorsports k member.

I talked to the guys at team z twice so far and there trying to assure me that it can't happen with there jig.they use I dono seems kinda common if I search around. That's why I figured I'd ask. I'm going to get some measurements tonite as far as exactly how far the rack is shifted to the pass side and call them for the last time tomorow to see what they can do. I'd rather not cut the mounts off a brand new kmember if I don't have to. Yea Bob if it's a fox based bumpsteer kit it wouldn't work for me anyways sn cars have metric inners.

A-ha, I did not know that. Unfortunately then my second solution is of no use to you either ... I remembered I have a set of Mark 7 tie rod ends here, they are 3/4" longer in the body than fox mustang stuff. Also I love their our jug won't allow that, because that means their fox jug is wrong because there I no F'ing way a fox rack will bolt up without offset rack bushings to move the centers, no way no how. So either the jig is wrong or they moved (that they say can't happen). I'm getting mad thinking about this again, lol

Come to think about it, I did have an issue with mine. When I put his tubular A arms on his K member, the arms were off a good bit. The wheels actually hit the front part of the fender. They were kicked forward about 3" for some reason. I went a few rounds on the phone with Dave about it and he said it was impossible because he used a jig to build them. I took measurements and they were off over an inch. He sent new ones out for me and it was fine.
