But I'd put a Coyote in a Stingray just to mess with the Chevy guys!

You would need a 10" cowl hood for that bulky thing

The Sewickley Car Store was able to convince BMW-CPO to replace my transmission... so the Coyote Town Car remains "Plan B" for the moment.

Thanks for all the input and enthusiasm.

Well, the 550i still has an undiagnosed coolant leak... but the 1st Gear issue was the one that had me humming that Commander Cody tune.

Saw a Marauder with a Terminator swap at a local cruise-in last year. Guy had a 2.3 Whipple on top instead of the Eaton, said he was making a little over 600 to the wheels and running mid-upper 11's in the 1/4. Just another option.

I owned a 2012 mustang gt 5.0 with a ford racing 2.3l whipple on it. Made 600whp/500wtq. Completely untouched long block The car drove like stock and never had 1 issue with the car in 4yrs and 26k miles of ownership. Its all in the tune. Plenty of coyotes running around at 600whp.

The problems I was hearing of around 600whp were related to OPG's and crank snouts. Agreed though that the tune is critical.

Most say the OPG's are safe to about 650whp. From what i hear and read. It is critical to keep off the rev limiter on these coyotes. As that is really hard on the OPG.

I hear ya - but to me 600 is awfully close to 650. If I'm going to be at 600 I am probably not doing it without OPG's. At 550whp I would probably roll the dice. Like you said staying off the limiter is key.

Simple solution is to raise the rev limiter.

I'm glad it was just me as a knuckle dragging carb and 3 speed auto guy who is wondering that.

That what I did. Raise the limiter to 7500rpm. And shifted at about 7000rpms.

The OPG mod has a purchase cost of about $300 but install cost is like 4-5 times that. That's why many don't do the OPG upgrade.

Carb and 3-speed auto? I'm in that club... one of my few exceptions to the 3-pedal requirement still sports a Motorcraft 4-barrel!

    That 550 has to go.

    the problems will persist.

Popping out of first is minor to coolant leaks that cannot be fixed.

Must continue with plan B in expedited manner.
