    2016 Coyote Oil Separator

    Thought I would share this. I installed the Ford Racing oil separator a few months ago when my 2016 GT had approximately 10,000 miles. A few weeks later, I noticed the car felt much faster but wasn't sure why. At 11,400 miles I opened the oil separator for the first time and found 2 to 3 ounces of oil in it. I can only assume the oil was going into the intake and lowering the compression ratio before the oil separator was installed.

    I have a new Steeda separator sitting around for a 15-17...just saying. :)

    Compression ratio has nothing to do with it. And lowering compression ratio means increasing space in the combustion chamber, not filling it with oil.

    Oil can combust, causing detonation. Bad for n/a cars, very bad for boosted cars. That's why you install an air oil separator.

    Not compression so much but the oil lowers the octane of the intake charge, right?

    It would technically raise the octane rating, since it takes a higher compression to burn oil compared to gasoline. That being said, I highly doubt there is enough oil being added per stroke to significantly change the octane rating. Considering how much water+meth has to be sprayed to raise the octane and get any benefit at all, 3oz of oil over 1,400 miles shouldn't matter much. That's a 1,100:1 mixture of gasoline to oil assuming 18mpg.
    I'm just throwing that out there to say the octane change isn't much of a factor. Obviously burning oil is not going to help the combustion process.

    Troy what kind did you buy? Is yours on the passenger side? I have heard that "Bob's Oil Separators" are better than JLT but I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

    just put a JLT on my car two weeks ago. difference in first ride. best 140 bucks and literally 12 seconds for a mod.
