5.7 hemi and 8 speed with 3.92s and rear lsd (and the brake lock diff like jeeps have)
It shifts a lot at lower speeds, im not sure its faster than my old 5.7 hemi with the 5 speed but its way smoother.
One of the things that I liked about it is that it has an air suspension, it will get pretty low to the ground, and you can also raise it up to have about 10" of clearance.

I have been watching rebates, incentives, and deals on them too .... My '15 (bought at the end of '14) will be three years old, and is approaching 36,000 miles ... It's that decision point if I keep it 2-3 more years, or trade it young.[

What I can say is that my '15 with the 8 speed is quicker / faster than any 6 speed Ram I've seen by a good margin based on drag times. A friend of mine has a '14 6 speed, regular cab 4x4 like mine and he was shocked what mine ran totally stock versus his with light mods (cold air, cat back, and a set of much lighter wheels and tires. Also FYI, mine picked up nothing noticeable with the cat back or cold air other than it now sounds like a V8 truck. Mine also pulls some pretty amazing fuel numbers with the 8 speed both unloaded, and towing.
Your right it shifts a lot of gears quickly, but the upsides made me really like that transmission.
I almost wonder if the amount of shifting just makes it feel like its taking longer. It's also not broken in yet, and I haven't floored it from a dead stop.
Overall I like it 1000x more than my 2011, the rebel turns a lot of heads going down the street, but that is probably because of the different grill (its a love it or hate it design). The red and black interior is probably the nicest interior on a car i've owned (even nicer than the fiero!). It's a huge leap over the 2011 (probably not as big as a leap over yours).

So, if (more like WHEN) the Fiero catches fire on the trailer will the Rebel be able to drive fast enough to extinguish the flames (can a Fiero fire really ever be put out?) or fast enough to make the flames burn hotter thus making it burn out sooner?
Inquiring minds want to know.
