Congrats on the swap Bob! I'm sure you're tired of taking T5's in and out of that car. I'll be looking to put a beefy manual trans in my fox at some point in the next few years hopefully. What are the pros/cons of this trans versus something like a T-56 or T-56 Magnum?

A T56 is really nearly useless behind a 4 cylinder. Gearing is very bad.

thats one of the advantages of this, I picked my gearing. In the end, they call this a 1,000 hp transmission ... I'm not buying that completely but it's much much strong ... he'll the main shaft and cluster shaft is 1 3/4" ... this is a true faceplate transmission with straight cut gears

Well, lots of details to finish, but the G101a is officially in the car. Need to build the trans mount (have everything), need to rebuild the tunnel, one more spot to clearance in the tunnel, and it's getting there... took a first measurement for the driveshaft, need to button things down to order that ...

then its carpet and back together ... as long as I don't get screwed on the driveshaft, I could be running next week

i joke that I would cut it in half to make it faster sometimes ... that felt like I was doing that.

didnt take any pictures, but a bunch done tonight ... squared the motor and transmission in the car, it's square to the world now ...built a trans mount for it .. G101a uses a TH400 mount and they are short ... dabbed up an adapter and got that all cinched down .. love the Stifflers crossmember, just moved the bushings around and it bolted in .. effectively it's all done underneath .. ordered my driveshaft too .... start on covering the tunnel tomorrow night ...

Bob can you point me to the guidelines to square up the motor/trans?

Well ... my junk is obviously different, so I work with a level, square, and a couple of strings with plumb bobs ... the deal is the motor mounts sit in slots in my tubular K Member so the motor can get racked around. With an inline 4 I can use a digital level on my valve cover for side to side ... success for me is when I let the transmission sit down on the crossmember and the bolts slide right in perfectly. The torque of a vertical engine keeps wanting to become a slant 6 in my chassis, then that makes the transmission out of line (small change at motor is big change at tail shaft).

in the end, centered in the chassis and plumb.

Covered up at the goodness tonight ... pieces made, tacked / screwed in place until Frank can get over with his real welder .. added to my must have tool list a real mug .. I have a fluxcore that has generally served well for stuff I could tack up and take to a real welder . Not so easy on the project.

One thing nice about those Fox dashboards. Remove center console and it looks completely normal.

its all together except driveshaft and fluid. Expecting the driveshaft Monday or Tuesday latest so it could go this weekend. The challenge is that this is Nostalgia weekend at Keystone and usually way too much of a zoo for me to get testing in ... looking at schedules for an option.

no doubt ... I would of left the console since it's only 6#, but with the tunnel shift and the new lever location it wasn't worth it

not that everything about my car isn't odd, but what effectively was a "high end" model, RS Turbo Capri, delivered as no AC, no cruise, manual windows, locks, etc .etc ... it would be like trying to get a stripped Premium GT these days ...
