    Bowling Green Picture

Nice picture from NMRA Bowling Green.

that may have been my last outing for 2017...

had as a host of stupid issues, blew off a charge pipe,,blew the fuel pump fuse twice, they got us lost in the woods on the cruise and over heated the clutch. Ended up with the car smoking pretty bad on the second pass and pulled out. Good thing I did because it also broke a lower control arm bolt and the arm hit the floor of the trailer as I loaded up.

Time to start building a new bullet. Shame is the one in there was built for 2013 season, barely has 500 passes on it and only 10,000 Street miles ... I’m easy enough on my stuff that’s almost a shame, lol

And this was real close to a disaster ... luck it came out in the trailer and not on the track.

now upgraded to 5/8” grade 8 bolts

Were those still 1/2" bolts? I've bent enough of the 9/16" stuff in the past.

yeah 1/2” bolts. It sheared right at the first thread. Now 5/8” on the front with a full heim joint. I routinely check all the suspension bolts and had a wrench on this bolt before I loaded up for BG. I think the bolt was jammed up in the joint on that arm. The bushing is trashed, so I replaced them

Those was maximum motorsports HD lowers. They are solid, the poly you can see is only on the outside to keep the arm from twisting. Is is a spherical bearing in there, with aluminum sleeves, then the bushing sits over the aluminum sleeve. I think the aluminum gauled to the bolt.

Its really the same as a rod end arm

It’s a spherical bearing inside the housing with a poly insert to keep it from rotating

The new arms are just a heim.

the old arms are just like this except there is a tube around it. Trust me they are solid bushings in there

thanks,I would think the ARB should HELP by making the load more equal. It doesn’t leave twisted up any more.

On that topiv, it’s a little weird. If I had a back half ladder bar car the front heim joint would require a safety strap (loop around heim). With stock suspension cars we run the same heims but no requirement. I was looking You could but a loop under the torque box to catch the arm anyway. Eh, random thoughts, now 5/8”bolts and I’ll change them every season going forward.

lol, it’s fixed suspension wise. Motor is hurting. I’m going to try one more time, mostly to see if suspension works. But don’t expect any big numbers out of it.

Well motor is worn out but still runs. I’m thinking about giving it a try Saturday to at least try suspension. Regardless I’ve started the build of a new bullet. Got my core mostly stripped down a ready to go to the machine shop Saturday to be tanked and cleaned so I can fill it, then back for machining.
