I got a postcard in the mail today from the Parts-A-Rama. I thought it was to renew my spot for this year and it was a notice saying the Parts-A-Rama was cancelled / out of business.

I'm not surprised. I haven't been there in years. Between the internet and brand specific swap meets and the inability/disinterest that most young people have in working on cars, it was inevitable. Last time I was there it was lots of craft vendors etc and not many good parts. Look around next time you're at a car event, lots of gray hair. We are slowly dying out.
Wow!
im kind of bummed but have probably only been there once in the last 15 years.
It doesn't shock me. I went last year and didn't find a single thing worth buying. Was mostly junk. The place was packed with people. Back in the 90's it was great. Always could find some good parts and such.

The Spring Swap? This was my first time going out there, so I can't compare to previous years. One building hardly had anything in it and the other wasn't exactly crowded. I actually made the comment to my dad that it reminded a lot of Parts-a-rama... lots of overpriced old junk on the sellers' end and nobody wanting to pay for the nicer/more valuable stuff. Sunday was a joke; the place was a ghost town.
I took a good chunk of my diecast collection and mostly S197 parts. Close to zero interest in the S197 stuff but I was glad I had the diecast stuff, because that was the only way I actually turned a profit after the cost of the vendor spot, gas, and a hotel.

With this, the Big Butler Auto Meet 1st Annual Event will take place on Fathers Day Weekend, June 15, 16 & 17. If you have ever set up as a vendor or would like to for the first time, this is the time to get in on the ground floor, go to their website at http://BigButlerAutoSwapMeet.com and check out all of the details, cost, spaces, times, Local Hotels, Camping and all the details! The location is at Big Butler Fairgrounds in Prospect, Pennsylvania. For quick answers, you can call Michael Schindel at 412-973-8608 or E-mail Mike at schindelm@gmail.com , you can also send a letter to Michael Schindel at Box 119 - Bradfordwoods, PA 15015. Maybe it will be more performance based stuff if they can pull enough friends with similar interests.
If it's supposed to be just like it was before, then i don't see how it's successful.
Good luck to them though!
I am looking forward to carlisle in 2 weeks.
