Ford to stop making all cars except for Mustang and Focus

What do you think? I think it is the dumbest idea ever. They finally have a decent midsize sedan in the Fusion and now they are getting rid of it. What happens if the gas prices spike and the dealers are sitting on nothing but SUVs and trucks? Why give up that market share?

They're swapping everything over to SUV's. I'm really surprised they nixing the focus. The only focus left will be a hybrid van thing I read somewhere. That damn automatic they put in the focus and Fiesta really hurt sales.

I can understand cutting back on the amount of models, but jeez. 75 y.o.ladies gonna climb in a suv?

Saw this the other day. I'm a bit sad. I really love my focus st.
Guess when it needs replaced I'll be looking to another brand.
They are making an explorer ST now lol.

Not terribly surprised though. Ford said 9/10 of new car sales are suv, crossovers, or light trucks.

Still makes no sense. I bought a Fusion because I didn't want a SUV or truck to go back and forth to work. Our "family" car is an Escape so we have the versatility but it makes no sense for our household to have 2 SUVs.

I think it is the stupidest thing I have ever heard! I have only ever owned Fords but if they do this I will go elsewhere to buy a car... Like others have said if gas prices rise Ford will die.... Just my opinion.

It’s basically a truck and suv type market now. Has been for a while. Very few people have an actual car in their driveway. Everyone has become comfortable with the midsize suv and up. The Escape being one. Damn near every single home has some type of suv, van or truck.

I’m not a fan of little SUV’s or the little econoboxes, but I always thought the “sporty” little cars were neat, like the Fiesta ST and the SVT Foci. MPG is the last thing I concern myself with, so this change in product mix won’t really affect me. I just hope this decision doesn’t end up weakening the company.

It’s a bold move for sure....ford must think selling mid size cars is like selling dirtbikes or quads anymore.....the market is side by side as 80% of the sales.

They seem to be climbing into Accords, Camrys, Sonatas, Elantras, etc.
